"Great hotel, not best for tourists"
I stayed at the Dusit Dubai with a group of friends on our way home from Kolkata. After that, the luxury of the Dusit was breathtaking. All 4 couples were upgraded to suites or apartments on arrival. The executive suite was outstandingly furnished with a large plasma screen tv and our room had a great view over the Sheikh Zayed road towards the Emirates Towers, and all the way round to the Burj Al Arab in the distance. Unfortunately, the next day my girlfriend and I were told that we would have to go back to the room we had originally booked, which was the basic room, view of the desert and stinking of old cigarettes. As the rest of my party were allowed to keep their upgrade we did complain and eventually got an apartment suite. The food was generally great, and room service was prompt, hot and tasty. The breakfast was a varied buffet, bearing in mind that pork is not available, the chicken sausage and beef bacon were quite good.
In hindsight, given that we were tourists rather than on business, I wouldn't stay again, but would rather be nearer Jumeirah (The One and Only Royal Mirage is out of this world), but Dubai is so spread out that no hotel can give you easy access to everything. If it wasn't for them trying to reverse our upgrade I would have given them 5 stars, in general a lovely hotel.

"elegant luxury"
I recently stayed for the second time at this elegant hotel in Dubai. Simple and luxurious, with good service and wonderful food from a selection of intimate restaurants, I was happy to go back again. Important to me was the fact that I felt comfortable staying on at breakfast alone while my partner went off to his regional office. I lingered, read the papers, and had more coffee and the best almond croissant I have ever tasted. Lunch solo was also comfortable in the newly opened deli on the ground floor. Later we appreciated the candles in the bathroom... But if you're alone and want opthwer entertainment, the design allows you to watch tv from the bath! It's not for you if you want all your entertainment laid on and in one place but is ideal for those who want a comfortable base with its own special qualities.

"Excellent Hotel"
I stayed from August 19-25,2005 . The hotel is generally an excellent hotel. The rooms are clean , room service were very prompt. Food are tasteful . Fitness center & the swimming pool are a question mark to me. The pool is not deep , only one meter deep and they do not have a sauna room. People are so polite and friendly . In the main reception area , you can have your PC connected to a wireless internet for free while enjoining the Thai music preformed live. |
