LOCATION

Ecoplaya Beach Resort is located at 186.41 miles, from the International Airport Juan Santa María. You have to drive on the Interamerican High Way, going towards to the city of Liberia, then towards to the Nicaraguan border, arriving at the city of La Cruz, turn to the left, to the well known restaurant "El Mirador" from where you will have a beautiful view of the bay area. From the restaurant take the road down to the bay and follow the signs to the Resort. The trip from San José driving will take you 4½ to 5 hours.

"Ecoplaya Rules"
My wife and I visited for 10 days Jan. 7-18 and enjoyed the hotel very much. Staff is extremely attentive and seem to go out of their way to get to know each of the guests. The physical facility is nicely appointed. Most of the clientele are Costa Rican families and the entertainment is geared to their interests. The hotel is located just a few yards from the beach on Baia Salinas and they also have a beach club about 3 km away which offers a better place to swim since the beach adjacent to the hotel is exposed to the NE wind coming across the Bay. Mark who runs the windsurf concession has an adequate inventory of boards and sails and is helpful. I would say that the windsurfing would appeal more to the proficient windsurfer rather than the novice because the wind is quite strong and is on shore. That said, the wind was constantly in the 15-30 MPH range day and night so for those sailing enthusiasts it provides a great venue.

"A Great Place To Relax and Enjoy Life"
We just returned from a wonderful week at the Ecoplaya Beach Resort. At this time of year it is very windy, so the windsurfers found plenty of opportunities to enjoy themselves. The entire trip went very smoothly right from our arrival at the airport in Liberia, the car rental and the trip to the resort. The hotel staff provided us all the information we needed for the week and on the day after our arrival had a meeting to let us know of the area trips and tours that were available. We took two of them, one to Santa Rosa National Park and the other was the day-trip to Nicaragua to see Granada and its environs. Both were excellent, meals included and well worth the price. At the resort we had opted for the all-inclusive meal plan and were very happy that we did. The food was excellent and there was plenty of variety. There are no other restaurants in the area so buy your supplies in La Cruz before you come down the dirt road to the resort (about a 45 minute drive) if you're planning on cooking in your room. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere at the resort. The staff was very courteous and helpful any time we needed anything. If you're looking for a quiet, isolated spot (with all the amenities), this is the place.

"Peaceful, beautiful and very enjoyable!"
Everyone was nice and helpful at Ecoplaya. We enjoyed our one bedroom suite, very spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed the morning briefing upon arrival which provided us with a lot of information. We were then able to go on side trips here and there and we discovered so many beautiful beaches near by. We saw 20 monkeys one afternoon before the sunset, 15 minutes from ecoplaya! My partner did an afternoon of Windsurfing in front of our apartment! Wow, what a view you have from ecoplaya! There is a windsurf instructor, Mark, who can teach you or simply rent you a board. Bahia Salinas is beautiful. We went fishing with Nicole (the local activity organizer)at Playa Manzanillo, it was so cool and beautiful. We also had one dinner next door at the other Resort (I forgot the name), and one dinner at the Copal restaurant up on the hill. Our host from Austria and the food were great. I would recommend a week at ecoplaya if you wish to see the pure rancher's country, beautiful vistas and very peaceful surroundings. We took a few days to visit Arenal and Tamarindo. I was not impress with Tamarindo personally. Already too commercial for my taste. Thank you to all the staff at Ecoplaya.
