Hotel Edda Neskaupstadur is located in Neskaupstadur, East Iceland. Neskaupstadur, located by Nordfjordur, is the largest community in East Iceland, with a population of 1,700. Nordfjordur is one of the picturesque East Fjords, famed for their spectacular landscape. Neskaupstadur had no road link to the outside world until 1949; prior to that, it was accessible only by sea.
In around Neskaupstadur there are many opportunities for outdoor life. Gerpir, the easternmost point of Iceland, is only a few km away, and many interesting types of rock may be found in the region. At Helgustadir, crystals of Iceland spar (a type of calcite) were formerly mined for making lenses.
