"Great place!"
A friend and I stayed there in May 2004. The location is great. Very close to railway station and hop-on hop-off buses and the tourist info center. Plus, right off Princess street and all the major attractions. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. You can book tours through the hotel. A great place to stay.

"Wonderful Edinburgh, Scotland"
The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet consisted of both cold and hot breakfast items, various juices, and hot tea or coffee.
Thistle Hotel opens their ballroom to a Scottish evening filled with traditional Scottish dancing, bagpipe and violin music in September-November. This is nice after you have been traveling for awhile and decide you don't wish to travel out for the night. One drawback is that great views of the stage are saved for the tour groups arriving and contracted through other hotels in the area. We managed to navigate ourselves to a top side view but it could have been better. The food served at the dinner was very good and consisted of beef, vegetables, and dessert.
It rained every day so be prepared to pack an umbrella and rain coat. We had a great time as Edinburgh is a fun city.
I would definitely recommend the Thistle Hotel in Edinburgh. |

"Great location and smart clean rooms"
Great place to stay - this hotel doesnt look great from the outside, but inside its 4*. Rooms are well equiped, very clean and nice bathrooms. Service excellent throughout our stay, and the location is great for all the sights, would stay here again for sure. |

"Overall Good Hotel"
Overall, we were very pleased with the location of this hotel and the professionalism of the staff. The hotel is around the corner from Princes Street and just across the river from the Royal Mile. Staff were courteous and very helpful. For example, limited parking is available at this hotel, but staff made sure they found a space so that we would not have to pay the expenisve rates at the public garages. They were also good about recommending restaurants and booking reservations for us.
There was nothing special about our room, but it was very clean. The size was a bit small; however, we believe it was pretty standard. It was fairly quiet in our room and the hotel in general, which was a surprise given that we were there during the Edinburgh Festival at the end of August.
It was one of the more affordable hotels for the location and it was during a peak time. |
