Great location for a reasonable rate. Reasonable for NYC that is. Room/bathroom were clean. Don't expect anything fancy. Walls are thin, so you will know when your neighbor uses the bathroom, but NYC can be a noisy place anyway. I called before I left to confirm my reservation. The room type was wrong and they wouldn't change it because it was booked through a travel agent. I called GTA and it was resolved when I checked in. I would definitely stay there again.

"As good as the Marriott hotel for a quarter of the price!!!"
After ten days at the Marriott (only doors away) at a conference I expected staying at the Edison to be a let down. How could it compare when it was a quarter of the price? To be honest I purely chose it for the great location and the Art Deco lobby and becasue I was too scared to stay in a backpackers. Boy did I get a suprise- the place was excellent and didn't feel like a let down at all!
The Edison definitely had the friendliest staff I encountered in my entire USA /Canada stay (we were there for 6 weeks and stayed at 16 places during that time ) - nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff I dealt with. Additionally all staff are a fountain of local knowledge. We got lots of great advice about where to shop, where to get cheap tickets etc etc. The bell boys in particular are an invaluable asset to the place.
The rooms although small were clean and well kept. As 2 young females travelling together we had no issue with security and felt very safe at all times.
I will definitely be back and have already booked for June 2007. For safe, clean, friendly accomodation right AT Times Square the Edison would be hard to beat.

"Great experience for the price!"
Booked through the hotel website and got a great room on the 12th floor. Was expecting twin beds and was pleasantly suprised by having 2 double beds. Also had small table with chairs and desk in room. Large walk-in closet. Bathroom was small but still able to dry off in bathroom.
Staff was friendly. Cafe Edison in lobby is a great deal for breakfast and 24-hour deli a couple of doors done is perfect for late-night snack. Pub in lobby had piano singer Tues through Saturday. Bartender was very good.
Hotel in great location. 1/2 block from Times Square. Close to subway stations and TKTS booth is out the back door (very convenient).
Was very pleased especially after reading some of the more negative reviews. Will still there again!!!!
