"Good hotel, good price"
Stayed December 28th through January 2, 2005. This is a good four star hotel with a great location near Taksim square. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the main streets of Taksim and approximately a 20 minute walk to the trendy areas of Istanbul. Basically, even with rain, everything in the new city is within walking distance to the hotel. Also close by are internet cafes, a good Italian restaurant next store, and plenty of taxies. Taxies to the old city ran approximately $5USD. I would recommend staying in the new city. More to do after hours. The old city may be less expensive byt once night falls, there is nothing to do. The new city is alive 24/7.
The staff was outstanding and helpful but breakfast was merely adequate. Not bad, just adequate. They had a pool but I never used it. Tours could be arranged at the front desk but if you are going to Istanbul on vacation you are probably savvy enough to tour with taking a “tour.”
Most importantly, I would stay at this hotel again should I end up in Istanbul.
