"Fantastic Family Hotel!"
We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of October with our 2 children and it was ideal. We had a 2 double bedded suite (tip - ask for a room on the 15th floor at the end of the corridor - nice and quiet). We found the room to be really clean and welcoming after a long journey from the UK; check-in was easy, and having called ahead to request an end of corridor room we had been obliged! The rooms don't have fridges (just mini-bars), however on requesting a fridge at check-in we had one delivered to our room within 30 minutes.
In recent reviews I have read comments about the local building work, I have to say we heard absolutely nothing! Our room was along the side of the hotel which was away from the building works at the front and rear and I think that because we were on the top floor it helped.
The free breakfast was just brilliant and set us up for the day; it was never particularly busy and had so much choice. With Children of 11 & 13 the managers reception was a welcome rest at the end of a busy day touring NYC. You are given vouchers at check in which entitle you to a generous amount of free alcoholic drinks - the 'sodas' are free and vouchers weren't needed. They also provide free Nachos and Dips. After a sit down we would feel refreshed and ready to go out to eat! If you fancy a really good pizza in NYC - go to Lombardi's (google it), it was the best pizza ever and so reasonable.
In terms of getting round NYC, we found the hotel really well placed, it was a 5 min walk to the nearest subway which got you into the heart of town in 10 mins max. Also the yellow cabs were always outside the hotel and I have to say they were really reasonable - just make sure they don't take you the long way round!
If you fly to JFK, the yellow cabs line up outside arrivals and it costs only $45 flat fee to get to anywhere in Manhattan - well worth the fare.
One final note, there are 6 free to use internet enabled PC's in the Reception area. We never had to wait to use them and the Children enjoyed being able to have 15 mins on them to chat to their friends at home!
Anyway I could go on and on! Needless to say if we ever go back to NYC, we wouldn't stay anywhere other than Embassy Suites.

"Continues To Delight"
This is the second time I have had the pleasure of staying here and it won,t be the last ! Stayed for 5 nights from 22nd to 27th October.
Noticed a few negative reviews posted recently. Personally I had no issues with the buliding work outside. I was on the 7th floor, on the corner so had a view of both Hudson and Financial centre which was cool. Although workers started early I experienced no noise maybe due to position of suite.
Five of us shared a suite, my wife and 3 kids, 16,16,18, it was their first time and they loved it. The breakfast is superb, as is the manager's reception at night.
Room cleanliness was spotless and staff were friendly and polite, especially at breakfast.
Ate at Applebys which was in same complex, food and service excellent.
Location was not an issue to us. Buy a subway ticket $24 for the week unlimited travel. It takes about 10 mins to walk to subway at World Trade Centre and from there you catch direct trains to Times Square (line 1 ,2 or 3).
15 minute walk to ferry for Liberty Island which is a must. Ensure you get a timed pass though or else you will not be able to go inside - these are limited and on first day we could not get one so had to queue at 8.30 next day to gaurantee it.
When at Maceys store make you sure you register for a 10% reduction card if from outside US - we didn,t find out until later.
All in all this hotel is an excellent base for enjoying NYC.
