Hotel Information
As in the past, Emerald Lake proudly welcomes those in search of the extraordinary...

Emerald Lake Lodge Hotel is a luxurious mountain lodge, 20 minutes west of Lake Louise. There are 85 guestrooms in cabin style buildings and the historic main lodge on the shores of Emerald Lake. Yesterday's travellers were adventurers in search of the extraordinary. They came by rail and horse-drawn coach to a summer retreat on the shores of exquisite Emerald Lake. Legendary guide Tom Wilson first discovered Emerald Lake in 1882 during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The CPR built the original guest lodge in 1902. By the mid-1920s the lodge had been expanded and road improvements made it possible to reach the resort by car. Dining facilities available at the lodge are the Mt. Burgess dining room with lots of game and indigenous fruits, vegetables and berries on the menu, and Cilantro on the lake, with its own well stocked wine cellar complete with a tasting area offering a selection of wines from France, California and Canada. Also the Kicking Horse Saloon offers the perfect place to unwind and is enhanced by an original wood bar from the Yukon, circa 1890.

The games room has billiards, chess, board games and the lodge's only television while the lakeside fire pit offers a bonfire under the stars with hot chocolate and the aromas of the forest.

"Wonderful secluded mountain location"
Stayed at Emerald Lake Lodge in 2001 & 2002 (on our honeymoon) which is right on the beautiful turquoise-coloured Emerald Lake. We loved it both times. The room is cozy and romantic with a small deck and a fireplace. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous. We loved walking around the lake and hiking on the nearby trails. The outdoor jacuzzi is fantastic! We also loved the both restaurants there. Fantastic Canadian cuisine ... loved the buffalo meat. Would love to go back in the winter time to do some x-country skiing. They also have an amazing pool table in the main lodge.

"Romance and Seclusion: Our Favorite Spot to De-Stress!"
My husband and I have just returned from our third stay at this wonderful spot in the Canadian Rockies. We have been to Banff, Jasper, and Yoho Natl Parks several times, and as a travel agent I could stay other places that give me more of a discount, but I keep returning here time after time. Some friends told us about it nine years ago, and each time we are in the Yoho area, we check into the Emerald Lake Lodge. A fair amount of day trippers in buses show up to check out the scenic beauty of the Lodge and lake. However, unlike the "grande dame" Fairmont Banff Springs and Chateau Louise or even the smaller but lovely Moraine Lake Lodge (all at which I have stayed), you never get the feeling that your special retreat has been overrun with tourists. The main reason for that is because the parking lot is not adjacent to the lodge and cabins (it is connected by a bridge which is a short walk away), so you really are not bothered by the grinding noise of the smelly diesel engines of those huge buses from your cabin. The food and service are always outstanding, there are plenty of hikes from the lodge, and the boat house gift shop offers unique Canadian merchandise in a great setting. I really enjoy a good soak in their outdoor hot tub (followed by a sauna) after a long day's hike and settling into bed with a crackling fire in our cabin. As the mother of three very small children, the best part to me is waking up and walking out on my balcony with that pristine lake in front of me and zero noise, except for maybe a the call of a loon or the rush of the waterfall at the far end of the lake! Those other hotels are wonderful, but if you are looking for romance and seclusion, Emerald Lake Lodge is the place. Please feel free to email me with any questions!

"Perfect in EVERY way!"
Emerald Lake Lodge is possibly the most beautiful, remote, and quaint place I have ever stayed. I have traveled around the world, and I was thoroughly impressed with the accommodations, food, service, and location of this magical lodge. My Mother and I had a nice week of traveling to Banff, Jasper, and Yoho National Parks. We were impressed with the Royal Canadian in Banff, happy with the location of the Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper (disappointed with the service), but we were knocked on our feet by the Emerald Lake Lodge. I only wish I would have known about this beautiful lodge when we decided on our honeymoon. My one suggestion would be to make sure your cabin is on the water, and not the closest cabin to the bridge - as tourists tend to drift towards the grounds. I simply cannot describe in words the beauty and majesty of Emerald Lake. Treat yourself to AT LEAST 3 nights.

"What a place fror a wedding"
Our son just got married at Emerald Lake Lodge. It was a beautiful, magical setting for a winter wedding. The staff was wonderful - our every need was promptly met. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The setting in winter is absolutely awesome. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. Our cabin was very nice, but the point cabin for the bride and groom was fantastic. We certainly understand why our son and his bride wanted to have their wedding in this lovely location.

"God's Country"
My husband and I spent a few nights at this lodge for our 30th wedding anniversary. The peace and quiet with the majestic scenery has made this our favorite place in the world and we have travelled worldwide.

"We loved the Jewel in the Canadian Rockies"
What a find !!! Emerald Lake Lodge is one of the most special places we have ever visited. You are at one of the most beautiful places on earth. The team was helpful and friendly and full of local information from hikes to an amazing pottery shop in nearby Field, B.C. Nice to know places like this still exist.

"Our Own Private Lake"
I was very worried about booking our stay at EEL due to the mixed reviews, but I am glad we did. We had no problems with the transportation to and from the overnight guest parking area. Upon arrival, the front desk help was very friendly and prompt with our check in and getting our luggage to our cabin. We stayed in cabin 121, which is called the Point Cabin, and is considered the best room in all of ELL---and I have to agree. Our room was huge(I've included a picture); we had floor to ceiling windows, a giant, well stocked fireplace, a cozy couch, a sitting area in front of the fire place, large dinning room table, lots of counter space, cd player, sink, dish/glass ware, 1/2 bath off the living room, full bath, complete with heated tile floors, large sink/vanity area, jacuzzi for 2, separate stand up shower, great bath amenities, french doors into the king sized bedroom, and another door leading to a large wrap around deck, with a premier view of the lake. We truly felt like royalty. As for noise and tourist---no problem at all. The whole property is very serine; lots of flowers in bloom, even in mid-September, and well manicure grounds. We never heard our neighbors, or even the little construction that was going on next to our cabin. In fact, it was so quiet, that one morning we could here the canoers talking on the lake. The gym was small, (however I did not use it), as well as the hot tub(small if compared to the Buffalo Mountain Lodge), but clean, which is the most important. We were a bit far from both the firepit and the hot tub, and did not use either since the property has lots of steps, and I was on crutches. Besides, we had a great jacuzzi in our room. There is a trail that goes around the lake where some moose we spotted by other guest. On a side note, one day we took an ATV ride near Golden, which was filled with fun, adventure, and beautiful views(I've included some pictures). Now to the service and food. We did not experience anything other than perfection from the service to the quality of the food. I will admit that the food was a little expensive, but no more than some of the places we ate at in Banff for the same quality. On one particular night Chris, our waiter, helped me choose an entree from the menu. The menu is heavy on the game which I am not accustomed to. He steered me toward the caribou, which he said his picky mom even likes, so I gave it a shot. Before I knew it, I was nibbling on one of santa's reindeer, and fully enjoying my first taste of Canadian Cuisine. For dessert, we requested to sit on the couch in front of the fireplace, which he happily took us to. Our dessert was looked like a work of art, and tasted like a slice of heaven. We just sat back and enjoyed the whole ambience of the main lodge. We never felt neglected, ignored, or rushed. It was a perfect evening. Breakfast was the same. My husband had the blueberry pancakes which were 90% blueberries, and I had banana bread french toast, that I am still dreaming about. The coffee was constantly filled which is always a big plus with us. All in all, our experience at ELL was top notch. I hope that if we are to visit again, that we have the same memorable experience.

"Highlight of our Rockies vacation"
We recently spent three nights at ELL. Like others I was concerned about the reviews on this website but we were delighted that we chose this lodge. It is remote, yet close enough to Lake Louise that you can easily spend part of a day or evening there. As soon as we arrived we were promptly transported to the Lodge by their shuttle. The desk staff were all wonderful. We had a lakefront room that had every amenity. The King size bed was very comfortable. Our room also had a fireplace and seating area, as well as a small dining table and mini refrigerator. The bathroom was beautifully tiled with slate. We couldn't believe how quiet and peaceful it was there. You just feel privilaged to be able to spend time in that setting. We only ate in the pub one night and the food was quite good. We did think the wine list was very expensive even compared to what we found on the menu of the restaurant we ate in at Chateau Lake Louise. We also enjoyed the funky little Truffled Pig restaurant in Field and met other ELL guests there as well. It is quite casual and alot of fun. It was cold and a little rainy in October but so cozy with a fire in our little cabin. If we needed anything including more kindling for the fire they sent someone right over. We stayed also at Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff which is owned by the same people. It was nice, but not nearly as special, as it is large and crowded with lots of people and cars. That is never the case at ELL. Staying there was one of those special treasured experiences that make a vacation truly memorable.
