"Roof top garden and bar"
Emmantina Hotel June 5th. to 12th. 2006 Roof top garden and Bar
My husband and I stayed here as we were going to a wedding in Glyfada. I had found it on the website but as there were no reviews for it we were unsure untill we arrived as to what it would be like. Our doubts were unfounded as we arrived at about 6.30am. thinking we would not be able to check in untill 12 noon. The receptionist was polite and friendly speaking excellent English saying that our rooms were available so we might as well take them. The double room was on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the sea. The room was clean well decorated with a full bar. the bathroom was on the small side but spotless with a power shower, toilet and washbasin. The rooms are cleaned every day and bedlinen was changed once during our stay
There is a very busy road running out side the hotel which is noisy but the room is quiet when the balcony doors are closed. these have to be kept closed for the air conditioning.
The rooftop bar and garden was quite a wow factor and you could easily spend a full day there in pleasent surroundings with willing staff who will serve you snacks and drinks or order something more substancial from the restraunt.
In order to get to the beach there are two busy roads to cross, it is adequate but there are nicer beaches further along the coast. The hotel is approx. 8mins walk to the town centre.
An excellent hotel very reasonably priced with very helpfull friendly staff my husband said the photos do not do the hotel justice. We would stay here again

"Convenient and reliable"
We stayed at the Emmantina in Glyfada for a couple of nights before Greek Easter this year, and we were very happy with the quality of the accommodation, the service, and the food, as well as the location.
We were in Athens in transit between London and Corfu, and we mainly wanted to stay somewhere that was more relaxing than the chaos of central Athens; that was well-situated for the airport; near the sea; and with good access links to the city centre if necessary. Glyfada was the obvious place to be. It is true that there is a busy road that passes through Glyfada, but it is this very road that means that the access to the airport is good, so it seems somewhat churlish to complain about it. It certainly did not prevent us from getting to the beach.
The hotel staff and management were polite and helpful. The double bedroom we stayed in was spacious and clean, with a balcony and a good ensuite bathroom. The food was consistently good. The hotel was, in our view, reasonably priced for what it offered (including a rooftop bar and a pool).
We find it hard to reconcile some of the critical comments which have been posted on this website with our personal experience of the Hotel Emmantina. However, we would hazard a guess that some visitors from North America and Northern Europe have unrealistic expectations of Greece, its culture, and its accommodation and service standards. We have been to Greece many times (Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Halkidiki, Epirus, and the Ionian and Aegean Islands), and we are of the view that the Hotel Emmantina compares favourably with the accommodation we have stayed in elsewhere. Obviously, there are more beautiful beaches in Greece than at Glyfada; but if you're in Athens, it's the closest beach you've got.
