"Great Hotel"
This hotel is great - the staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
The rooftop pool and bar are great - nice size pool with sunbeds and food and drink service from friendly barmen. A great place to go at the end of a hard day's sightseeing.
The location on Copacabana beach is excellent - a few doors up from the Copacabana Palace and just a few steps across the road to the infamous beach.
We found it easy to get around from the hotel - ask the concierge to order you a taxi or walk down Copacabana to Ipanema or walk a block North for various shops.
One of the best things about this hotel is the breakfast! Basically anything you could think of wanting for breakfast is provided and it's all included in the room costs. 10+ flavours of smoothies, fruit, breads, hot foods, cakes, even soup! Brilliant.
I would definitely return to this hotel on a return trip to Rio.

"Stunning location !"
stayed here in Oct 05 for 4 nites and had a lovely time. We were
3 in a room to save money and the room was very very big with modern marble bathroom. We had no view tho as it looked down an inner dump of a courtyard. Hotel is in great location for walking along Copacabana and doing all the trips like Sugarloaf
& statue of Christ. Brazil was so cheap and we found taxis very easy to hale and cheap!!
The rooftop bar/pool area was a really usefull for cooling off after a long day & we found it very relaxing and it had amazing views which I will never forget of the beutiful beach to the front and Sugarloaf to the left. If you turn, you can also see the staue of Christ!!! What more could you ask for.... We did venture in to the Palace next door though one night for an amazing meal.
I would love to return to Brazil in the next few years and would definitely stay here again!!

"Great Hotel"
Was very happy with this hotel. The bathroom and room was very clean and very modern (laminate floors). The shower was amazing. The views from the swimming pool was amazing. It was in a great spot and it was well worth it. Their breakfasts were amazing, all you can eat. We only eat breakfast and dinner while we were there, so we saved a lot of money. Rio is very reasonable. Great place to purchase clothes, booze and shoes!
Hotel staff could have been a little more helpful. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Excellent! Perfect hotel for us."
This was a great hotel in a perfect location. Be sure to visit Ipanema beach on the weekend to see the beautiful people! We had a great time. If you want to visit a non-touristy church...we took a cab to the cathedral sonora de penha. It is a beautiful white church on top of a cliff back by the airport area. It was really something different...I just saw it from the plane coming in and it added something special to our trip. there are 365 steps to the top...give you some exercise. you are supposed to penance for each day of the year....something like that. There is a small tram...but it was not going as we were the only ones there. dont go if you cant handle the steps.
the safety was not a problem for us in Rio, but we were careful not to take much money with us each time anyway. There seemed to be a lot of police around in the public areas.
Knowing spanish is helpful!
We started our trip by taking the blue stripe cab from the airport and had changed enough reals in the US airport before we got there...I think this is a good idea...but the rate is better once you get there so don't change too much.
Here is a link to our pics if you want to see...
