"Perfect out-of-the city hotel, great rates"
There isn't a single thing I could complain about at this Holiday Inn Express property. It was one of my better recent HIE experiences in Europe. I agree it is an out-of-the-city-center hotel, but I knew that before even booking it. They have a secured parking lot, the staff is almost too friendly and solve any dilemma in seconds to your satisfaction. The hotel is completely sound-proof (very nice as it is next to the TGV station), very nice design and in excellent condition, which is no wonder as it is only 2 years old. I was surprised to read about the uncomfortable beds - we found them great and much wider than in HIE properties in UK. We paid 56 EUR a night which is a bargain for what we got! Avignon being so centrally located in Provence I am sure I will use this property again on my future trips to the lavender country.

"Modern hotel, spacious room, friendly staff"
After four days in a nice but very tiny expensive hotel in Paris, we were very happy to spread out at this modern hotel in Avignon. It's like we were in an American hotel (except for the shower, of course). Clean, large room. Nice breakfast (included) at a great price. It's located a long walk from the TGV train station and there is a bus to the city center. If you have a car, it's no problem. Only complaint is the mattress was not comfortable but everything else made up for it. Reflecting on the accommodations for the rest of the trip, we'd tolerate the mattress rather than give up the rest of the hotel attributes. We'd stay again.
BTW, Avignon is wonderful.

"A Warm Welcome awaits Guests in Provence"
We like the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza chain but had never tried an Express hotel. The hotel is conveniently located near the TGV station and is therefore well sign-posted throughout Avignon. Arriving at night this was a bonus and allowed us to admire the lighted walls and bridges surrounding this amazing city in Provence. For those who want to be in the centre this hotel is a bit out of the way, though with the TGV station there would have to be good public transport links. Avignon is definitively worth a visit, so consider staying 2 nights.
The room was spacious, well appointed, clean and had everything we needed. As the value was superb we were expecting a lousy breakfast and were pleasantly surprised how nice it actually was.
A big 'thank you' to the staff, who were very pleasant and were doubling up as receptionist, breakfast attendants etc all the while being corteous, efficient and smiling!
From now on Holiday Inn Express will be an option for us.

"A great place to start/finish your vacation"
We used this hotel on our last night of a 4 day holiday on April 2nd. Its brand new, and within easy walking of the TGV station, just off the southern ring road, and not too far from a 'Centre Commercial' - read shopping centre with Carrefour etc. It has a secure car park. The staff were friendly, and the rooms immaculate. The selling points of this hotel (compared to say an Ibis) were a free breakfast (cold buffet), tea & coffee making in rooms, a comfortable lounge area and a bar. Some simple meals also available. The bathrooms had a enormous shower fitted into where you might find a bath (had it got one), with a lovely blue LED illumination at night.
If you wanted to do sightseeing from here (without a car), you would need to get the Shuttle Bus (Navette) from TGV to the city centre (1.2 €) which runs every 20 minutes or so.

"Very friendly service"
We stayed here for 5 nights in the middle of April and were very impressed with the level of service provided. Staff went out of their way to give us the room we wanted with a nice view. Breakfast was very good and the buffett was kept filled up. We liked the location near the TGV train station and the shopping mall and had no trouble making our way into Avignon proper. The hotel was spotless, and the room were made up early each day, never a problem. When we were in the room it was made up. Only little problem was ice machine, French are not that interested in ice, no bucket in the room and the ice melts very fast. Will stay there again when we are in town.

"Brand new!"
My wife and I stayed at the Express by Holiday Inn for 1 nite en route to Arles. The hotel is a 10 walk from the TGV station. We paid 55 Eur and was well worth it. The hotel is only 6 months old and it looked like we were the first ones to stay in our room. It was spotless, bed was a bit hard (probably still new), sheets were clean, bathroom was big and very clean. TV and airconditioned.
Hotel hosts spoke very good english. One guy was actually from England and was working there to improve his french.
