Guaranteeing to its client excellent host and standard of quality...
Named as one of The World's Best Places to Stay on Condé Nast's 2005 Gold List and one of Canada’s great railway hotels, the Hotel Vancouver opened in 1939 and was restored in the 1990s. Early guests included the English monarchs George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Its elegant décor and chateau-style architecture have never gone out of fashion with vacationers, and business travelers appreciate the prime downtown location and extensive business facilities. The hotel’s busy lobby is an attraction in itself-- Italian marble floors, Edwardian frescoes, and antique furnishings. |

LOCATION

"Would I stay here again- Yes!"
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an old grand dame hotel with an old flair elegance and furnishings. The only thing modern I could find was the digital thermostat in the room.
The gym was a wonderful surprise with updated equipment and a nice little pool for some very quick laps and was adjacent to the whirlpool.
The hotel lobby bar/lounge again offered that old air elegance of an era almost lost but can be found here at Hotel Vancouver.
Would I stay here again- Yes!

"is nicely appointed "
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is nicely appointed but the furniture and carpeting in the rooms is looking a little bit worn - not drastically but it is noticable. The public spaces are beautifully furnished and maintained and the hotel has some very upscale stores attached to it which add to the overall appeal.
Since it is in the heart of downtown it is walking distance to a multitude of activities and restaurants, more accessible than the hotels on the waterfront. The concierge was especially knowledgable and helpful. |

"Still a classic"
Great location, next to the art gallery (great Impressionist exhibit on now), the shopping on Robson and a quick hop to everything else. The rooms vary A LOT -- if you get a cramped one, ask to see if there's anything else available -- even within room categories, there's a lot of variety.
Room furnishings are classic and plush. The indoor pool is small, but very nice -- it's encased in glass, so you can look out on the folks on Robson if you want.
It's also possible to get exceptional deals. Join the Fairmont President's Club (it's free) and check out their "Great Deals" that they list every first week of the month -- the Hotel Vancouver is almost always listed, with room rates as low as $119 a night CDN. Plus, joining the club gets you free Internet access, so it's worth doing anyway.

"Great hotel"
Great hotel. It was old (historic), but well taken care of and charming. Our room was much larger than I had expected. I was disappointed that they charged to use the business center. Shame, shame! The cheap hotels offer free internet. You should too!
That aside- we loved the dog in the lobby. What an interesting aspect of the hotel. Beau was there the day we stayed and he was not too ambitious, but awfully cute.
The restaurant in the hotel was pricy, but the food was good. We ate breakfast around the corner at The Bellagio and it was tasty. There is a market nearby so it makes it easy to buy snacks and water and such.
We would stay there again...

"My new favorite hotel"
It really is my new favorite hotel. I never write reviews but a hotel that does so may things right and is economical compared to other fine hotels is a rarity in this day and age. The rooms were elegant, roomy and spotlessly clean. I actually looked forward to coming back to the hotel at night. the whole staff was efficient and delightful. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I'm afraid we will compare all conciergefrom now on with David at the Fairmont. He could not have been more helpful, knowledgable and approachable. It was wonderful to be in a hotel where the staff truly seems to enjoy working there.

"Very nice experience."
We quite enjoyed the Hotel Vancouver and it was refreshingly different than the usual Vancouver hotel experience. The hotel is not brand spanking new but that's part of the charm. The corridors are very, very spacious, the rooms while old fashioned are roomy, clean and have character (lots of crown moldings etc.). While one of the oldest hotels in town, the rooms are actually larger and more comfy than the Bayshore and the Vancouver Four Seasons which I don't recommend BTW. The experience is warmer than the Pan Pacific and Sunday Brunch at Griffin's was superb. As with most Fairmont properties, it probably would suit "old money" types more than "new money" types in terms of taste. I would stay there again |

"Service is top notch!"
The best parts of our stay were the service and the Sunday brunch! They truly are welcoming and pay attention to detail. Everything was how we expected it to be, if not better. Room was very clean and comfortable. And we got such an excellent rate of only $120 -- and it included a buffet breakfast. It was a steal!
We actually live in Vancouver but stayed at the Fairmont to treat ourselves to an in-town get-a-way weekend. It really felt like we were away. Hotel staff just seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcome and special.
Sure the hotel decor is a bit dated, but as others have said it is part of the charm. The comforts and service more than make up for the tacky wallpaper in the washroom. Really, unless you are one to always find something wrong, a stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver will truly be a great experience.

"Fantastic Hotel"
This is a fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Just steps away from the main shopping streets and restaurants in downtown Vancouver.
My wife and I were staying there in their "Gold/Platinum/or whatever other precious metal" floor :)
This floor has its private concierge, lounge, computer terminal, cd/dvd check-out. The staff is extremely helpful and very attentive, professional and courteous.
The lounge has free breakfast, and then coffee, drinks, snacks throughout the day and appetizers in the evenings. All you pay for is the liquor. Got to meet several nice people in the lounge and also spotted a few well-known US/Canadian celebrities.
We stayed for 6 nights and it was one of the most pleasant experiences in stays at 5 star hotels in the US and Canada |

Nice Place
I had a room on the 13th floor, which was nice. I had a SW view looking out onto Robson St and the gargoyles on the corners of the hotel. The room was quiet. The bed & chairs were very comfortable, and the bathroom was very roomy for a hotel. They had nice white bathrobes available as well. Everything was immaculate; just what you would expect for the price you’re paying.
The location is right in the middle of downtown Vancouver, just off Robson St. Very busy and very close to shopping. Good for a business traveler, but not exactly a romantic setting.
This Fairmont hotel is quite nice |

"Very comfortable hotel..."
Our standard room was lovely. It was furnished nicely. It was not small and the bathroom was above average. The bed and linens were especially comfortable. We stayed on the seventh floor and it was quiet.
Check in was efficient and accomodating. Staff was professional and helpful.
The fitness center was cheerful and busy in the morning. |
