Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello Hotel is located halfway between Ottawa and Montreal and purportedly home to the world’s largest log cabin (Ottawa Riverside woods and wildlife share 65,000 acres with this destination).

elax at Le Chateau Montebello
This is an excellent place to go and relax, enjoy fine dining, great golf and other activities. The staff are top knotch, polite and ever so accomodating. The Chateau Montebello is lovely. The lobby is spectacular -- soaring ceilings, log beams, with the beautiful six-sided fireplace. Both times that I have stayed at Montebello, I have enjoyed spending hours in the lobby in front of one of the fires, sipping single malt from the bar and reading a good book. The rooms are very nice, if somewhat standard. The restaurant is quite good. The pool is in a nice old building, constructed in the 1920's or 30s, and therefore has a lot more character than most hotel pool areas. I feel that Montebello is the perfect winter retreat, although some might prefer it in summer. Staying here over the Christmas holidays is a real treat.
