"An oasis in Rome"
Having spent quite some time checking out hotels using TripAdvisor, I chose Forty Seven as a base for a four day break to Rome with my husband and nine year old son. What a brilliant decision! It was just as I'd hoped it would be: modern, stylish rooms, extremely friendly and efficient staff and an ideal position within the historic part of Rome. My son thought the hotel was "wicked". He adored the breakfasts, expecially the mini hot dogs which, I have to say, were actually not bad when eaten in a freshly baked roll! After eating out at the local restaurants in the Trastevere each evening we returned to the roof bar for a night cap and all three of us loved sitting under the stars (and the very welcome patio heaters!) Rome is very child-friendly. Of particular interest to my child were the Colosseum,the Pantheon and the Crypt of the Capuchins (in the Via V Veneto, the bones of dead friars are arranged around the walls as works of art: "gross" and therefore a highlight of the trip!). The Time Elevator is also worth a visit if you have children; a modern, virtual reality trip through history situated off the Via del Corso. Most of the time we managed to get to places on foot but the buses are very easy and cheap; the bus stop is just outside the hotel and the reception staff can provide tickets. No problems with taxis either; reasonable rates around town and worth getting the hotel to arrange one for the airport. Rome is an amazing but tiring place to visit so it is really important to have a lovely hotel to return to each evening. The Forty Seven was just what we needed and I would recommend it if you like comfort but appreciate something a little more chic than the norm!

"Seems redundant, but another positive review!"
Booked this based on ratings here and was not disappointed. The largest room we had on our trip, big huge bed (but VERY firm), good staff, good location, nicely decorated, classy, and good included breakfasts. Only downsides were their in-room internet service did not work in our room, the WiFi covered only the lobby and the staff was not savvy enough to even come close to fixing the problems. And even when it does work, the costs of the internet seem grossly overpriced via some third-party provider. Would cost them little and buy a lot of goodwill to just setup free WiFi covering the building. Staff was helpful in recommending dining options and getting cabs, etc. The free map in the lobby was probaby the best free map I've used on a trip - accurate and shows all the must-see locations. Great location, you can walk just about anywhere you'd want to go in Rome. Unquestionably would book this next time I'm heading to Rome.
