Fosshotel Baron is located in the city center of Reykjavik. It is only a few meters from the famous shopping street Laugavegur and close to the scenic walkway along the shore.

Reykjavík and the surrounding towns have a population of some 180.000, around 60 % of the Icelandic nation. The Reykjanes peninsula hosts the international airport and many impressive natural wonders. "A good 3 star hotel"
We stayed in Fosshotel Baron room 410 (double, standard) for 2 nights. Location was very good, an easy walking distance from all the main attractions. Local shops were just around a corner. Our room was spacious and quiet. The breakfast was good and freshly baked pancakes were delicious. We were able to book our Blue Lagoon trip easily via reception. Staff were helpful. This is a good 3 star hotel and we felt happy to have chosen

"cheap, cheerfull and very warm"
We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of December. The hotel staff were very friendly. The check in was quick and easy. The guy at reception was very helpful when we were booking trips - advising us which were not worth it at the time of year. The room was pleasant with two single beds, which we pushed together! They were extremely comfortable and warm. There were no tea and coffee facilities (this is standard we have found in many hotels abroad - we take our own mini kettle and teabags - not a hardship!) Breakfast was excellent - try the waffles with maple syrup - delicious! and how often do you get chocolate biscuits amongst a breakfast buffet - plenty there to warm us up before going out in the cold (there's healthy stuff like muesli and fruit too). The location of the hotel is excellent and within easy walking distance of the many shops and restaurants. We were told that if the northern lights made an appearance we should be able to see them from outside, but it was too cloudy while we were there to confirm this. All in all it was an excellent place to stay and we would come back again no problem.

"Great Stay at the Fossbaron"
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Fossbaron, over Christmas. The hotel was very centrally located, so it was easy to navigate our way around central Reykjavik, the room was very clean, we had a standard double, they have an adequate en-suite shower room and are of a very good size, would highly reccomend a stay at this hotel. Iceland is a very chilled out place to visit and the scenary is stunning and what made our stay perfect was the snow on Chrsitmas day.

great for families
The staff was REALLY helpful, and arranged trips for us as well as answered a billion questions and gave advice on how to get places and do things. The hotel is also very central - two blocks from either the Hlemmur bur stop or Laugavergur (main shopping street).

Comfortable, Convienent
We loved this hotel! We were able to check in at 9:30 am, they have free attached parking and we were upgraded to a bigger room. Employees were friendly and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Great location for exploring Reykjavik.

Great Value and Close to Everything
Fosshotel Baron is an Icelandic gem. It’s situated right off a local lake and walking distance to the heart of the Reykjavik shopping district. There is also ample parking if you’re renting a car. Our room had an unbelievable view of the neaby lake and the mountains. The rooms are a moderate size but very clean and well maintained. There is a nice continental style breakfast every morning included in the price - which is a big bonus considering the expensive price of food in Iceland. The hotel staff was also extremely helpful in helping plan excursions and anything else we needed. One night a staff member went as far as finding a restaurant that had a vegetarian option for me (not easy to find) and booked the reservation! Fosshotel Baron definately went well beyond the call of duty. For the price, it is a great value - I will definately stay there again my next visit to Iceland!

Inexpensive and simple
The services provided by this hotel were excellent. The front desk organized all of my tours and were an excellent source of information.The hotel was also 2 blocks away from the main shopping street. Pretty much everything is withing walking distance of this place. This hotel is well worth the price.
