"Consistently superb"
I'm a frequent visitor to Vancouver for business/pleasure and have stayed at virtually all of the top hotels (Wedgewood, Opus, Hotel Vancouver, Pan Pacific). The Four Seasons is by far my favorite choice due to its very comfortable and spacious rooms, incredible beds, superb service, and nearly perfect location.
What sets most Four Seasons aparts is the quality of their rooms, and this one is no exception. Rooms are very spacious, quiet, and comfortable, featuring FS's legendary beds and stunning views of the city (particularly on the north side of the hotel). While the decor is a bit dated, the hotel is extremely well maintained. Rooms and public areas are immaculately clean, so you won't find random stains and damaged furniture here.
Housekeeping here is better than virtually any hotel I've ever stayed at, including some of the world's finest (Peninsula/Beverly Hills, Four Seasons/George V, Mandarin Oriental/Hong Kong). Rooms are freshed up with laser-like precision, and turn-down service always results in a perfectly-made bed. The housekeeping team is friendly, highly responsive, and professional, like all of the staff here.
In the end, what impresses me most is the FS's incredible consistency. I've stayed here probably 20x in the last five years and almost never had an issue. The one time I had a problem was when the hotel's cramped driveway was backed up due to an arriving wedding party, making it impossible for me to retrieve my car for over an hour. The valet team was barely apologetic, which surprised me. This was a rare aberration, however.
The FS may not be the most stylish hotel from an architecture and design standpoint, but it excels in the things that really matter -- room comfort, service, cleanliness, and quality. I strongly recommend it.

My experience with this property took place in:

My ratings for this hotel are:

Cleanliness
Service
I traveled to this hotel with: spouse/partner
I recommend this hotel for: Young singles, An amazing honeymoon, Families with young children, Families with teenagers, Tourists
My visit was for: out-of-town getaway
Would I stay at this location again: absolutely!
We have stayed at the Four Seasons Vancouver twice, five years' apart. The result was timeless. That is, both times the service was superb, the rooms immaculate and extremely comfortable, the location perfect to see this wonderful city. Too often, the passage of time dulls the staff or the decor. Not FS Vancouver. Flagship property of our favorite hotel company, folks here are helpful and accommodating. Beware cruise ship schedules, when the driveway, the lobby, and the restaurant can be suddenly overwhelmed with a flood of, um, cruise types (not a personal assessment, just an awareness of herd mentality.) Great pool and workout spa on the fourth floor (so you don't have to parade in your robe through the lobby.)

"An American in Canada"
Mrs. Pub and I stayed at the Four Seasons Vancouver for four nights in July. It was 100 degrees back home, but the highs were in the mid 70's in Vancouver. Absolutely perfect weather.
About the hotel:
1. LOCATION: in the middle of downtown. Robson Street (known for its shopping) is two blocks away. The Pacific Centre mall is attached to the hotel. Lots of cafes, stores, restaurants within a few blocks. Cabs were always available at the hotel. Stanley Park was about an $8 cab ride away.
2. ROOM: We reserved and received a Deluxe Corner Room (2208) on the 22nd floor. We had a nice view of the harbour around Canada Place, and the mountains in the background. The Deluxe Corner room is a mild upgrade with floor to ceiling windows on two sides. Furnished nicely.
3. AMENITIES: A very nice indoor/outdoor swimming pool (heated) with exercise equipment on one side of it. No extra charge for the fitness equipment nor the pool. Cocktail and food service on the outdoor patio portion of the pool. Very nice public areas. Staff was always very nice and helpful.
4. FOOD: Didn't eat in the restaurants. Had room service breakfast once and cheese and wine in the bar once.
5. VALUE: Rack rate on this room was $430 per night; I reserved it for the Entertainment Card rate of $215 per night. I did have to show my Entertainment card at check in (a first). If you are not familiar with Entertainment card or Hotels at Half Price, check out Travelers Advantage at [--]
Travelers Advantage now costs about $10 per month, but they have a trial membership for only $1 for two months. However, if you don't call and cancel, they will automatically bill your credit card each month.
It may seem costly to join a "travel club" for , but I saved over $800 on one four night stay, so it pays off. Keep in mind that not all hotels listed have the Half Price room availability for the specific dates that you want to stay. It can be frustrating at first. You have to work at it a little bit to get the discounted rate at a suitable hotel. If the toll free reservations are not successful, try the direct call to the hotel. Ask for the "Entertainment Rate". If they have a good rate, book it and join Travelers Advantage with specific instructions to send you a card/sticker soon.

Faboulus Service
Stayed for 2 nights while checking out Vancouver, The hotel is brilliantly placed in the middle of downtown city. Got a room on the top floor (28 floor), the room was big with a really nice view of the city, and even if the room is not newly decorated its was immaculate and clean. The food in the hotel is very very nice and the service at the hotel is brilliant. So I highly recommended spending a few extra Canadian dollars to experience this hotel and location.

"Greatest hotel on Earth!"
This is one of the greatest hotels on Earth! Personally, I have stayed here over thirty different times. With little exception the hotel is a winner. Yes, the hotel needs a bit of a face lift, but it is spotless and the service is superb.
The pool is one of a kind..the inside outside pool for swimming, dining and workouts all year round.
I have stayed at many Four Seasons Hotels and not many hold a candle to this one! The new remodel should be finished soon. |
