Great location and lovely hotel but....
rooms are very old and 2 tv out of 3 were broken. Bath was without heating and was very cold. Unfortunately during my stay there were a group of US americans aged 18/20 absolutely impolite and boor running and screaming in the heart of the night. Staff is ok and the hotel is good, not considering americans guest. |

"Wonderful Madrid"
The hotel room was small, extremely clean and well serviced. The staff on reception are very helpful and pleasant. Continental breakfast is adequate. I would recommend staying here for a good priced break in Madrid.

"Great Price...Great location"
This hotel is a real find. It is located a few blocks from Puerta del Sol, the Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace on Calle de Arenal. It is within walking distance to the Prado. My family and I were part of a group of students who had studied for a month in Salamanca. There were 20 of us in the group. We paid 70 euros per night for a double, breakfast included. We thought this was an excellent price for the location.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a small lobby on the street level and a large lounge on the 1st floor. The dining area is on the 6th floor. We extended our stay after the students left, and paid 100 euros per night for a triple. The rooms are standard size for Europe. Some do not have air conditioning. The bathroom of our double was on the small side, but did have a shower and tub. Our bathroom in the triple was large. We were able to leave our luggage at no charge at the hotel when we spent two nights in Sevilla.
The staff can arrainge for tickets to bullfights or sporting events, but we prefered to buy ours at the gate.
This hotel has a sister hotel, Hotel Paris, located in the Puerta del Sol. We definately plan to stay here again. The only negative about this hotel is there are no smoke detectors.

"Lovely hotel, excellent location"
Having just returned from a wonderful stay at this hotel I felt I had to reply to the previous reviewer, who had almost persuaded me to cancel my booking - thank goodness I didn't. Yes, the room was quite small and the bathroom tiny, but both were immaculately clean, and as I only wanted to sleep there, it was hardly a problem. The noise from the street might keep you awake (hardly the hotel's fault), but was just a reminder of how vibrant and alive Madrid is! All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, and really seemed to appreciate my stumbling attempts at Spanish. The breakfast was simple, but there was plenty of choice and everything was fresh. The big bonus of this hotel is the amazing location as it is close to all the major sights. We walked everywhere as even the Prado area was only about 20 minutes away, but if you wanted to use the metro both Sol and Opera are only 2 minutes from the hotel. On this occasion I was staying with my daughter, but I will definitely return with my husband.

Location location
First rate location and so easy to find from Puerto del sol metro station. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the room was not too cramped, but we felt a couple of things would have made our stay even more enjoyable. The staff in reception weren't as friendly as they might have been, though they were efficient. More information in the room itself would have helped -time of breakfast, maps, restaurant recommendations - all the usual stuff. Go there , though, for the superb location. |
