"Wonderful, Quiet and Charming"
This was my first trip to Scotland, and I was traveling alone and I booked this hotel online, and was a little apprehensive until I got there. The rooms are quaint and clean. Not overly large or modern, but very comfy. There was a fridge, hair dryer, and coffee pot. The hotel desk clerk was absolutely charming. He was always eager to provide assistance. The walk to Princes street is only about 3-4 minutes - a nice stroll really. The lift/elevator was small compared to US standards but adequate. Numerous restaurants close-by, even a mini-market. I would highly recommend this hotel. |

"It Felt Like Home"
My daughters and I made our first trip to Scotland in 2001. After a very disappointing hotel experience in London we were apprehensive about the Frederick House. From moment one, however, we loved it!! We stayed in the Skyline Room (a two-level room often used in its advertisements.) The room was spacious, clean and offered an over the rooftops view of the Firth of Forth! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel was ideal (not in the middle of the bustle of Princes Street, but not far from that focal point.) The only (minor) letdown was the caliber of full breakfast offered with the room (at a restaurant across the street from the hotel.) I would happily stay at the Skyline Room, Frederick House again. |

"Wonderful Convenient Location, Nice Staff, Average Room"
Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our visit. The rooms are very standard for European hotels, even a bit nicer than other 3 stars we stayed in while in UK. The shower could have been better, but pressure was good. The location was perfect distance to the sites and pubs. Great shopping nearby as well. Breakfast included was tasty and filling.
