This was a pleasent suprise. You cant probably have a better base, at low cost if you planning a few days in Berlin. Great staff, bar and location. Generator makes everything a little bit easier if youre in Berlin.

I stayed at the Generator for a week with two friends, and we shared a dorm.
We found it clean and safe, and they had lots of useful stuff there like an information desk which had loads of info on trips etc. There were also organised tours and pub crawls from the hostel, which was a great way to meet people.
The bar was quite nice, and was good value for money. The food was also good, and as a vegetarian I didn't really have too much of a problem.
The only downside was that there were a lot of teenagers about, who were quite loud and enjoyed a drink or two! But if you're not into that then you can just go to a different bar or go to your room!
Overall I would recommend it!

This is a great hostel for those young and old who want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Berlin. I'd stayed at the other Generator hostel in London, and found this hostel to be very similar and of an equally high quality if not higher. It was extremely clean, the beds were really comfortable and the reception desk and bar staff helped out with anything we needed (such as directions to the best bars and restaurants and booking a taxi ti take us to the airport at 5am). If you're travelling in a fairly large group as we were then I'd go for this hostel as the price is great and the breakfast in the morning is a big bonus.

As Hostels go you will not find a better one. It appeared to have been recently refurbished throughout and was clean and well maintained.
It is a large building with hundreds of rooms spread over around 12 floors. The rooms varied between 2 bed, 4 bed or 6 bed and were all ensuite!
There is plenty of internet access on the ground floor and a great bar which has two great american size pool tables and a decent canteen/cafe.
Location wise, its in the North East area of Berlin and is a 2 minute walk to the nearest tram stop which will then take you into the centre of Berlin (As an aside, they didn't appear to check our tickets the entire time we were there)

Great Hostel
This is a great Hostel. The service they gave us was great! Our flight to Berlin got delayed by 1 day so we arived 1 day later then booked and checked out 1 day later then booked. This was no problem and they didnt even charge us for the extra day.
The atmosphere was very good. The rooms are clean and tidy and the breakfast is reasonable.
We got way more than we expected for this price!

This was the coolest hostel I've ever been to!
Apart from the staff being super helpful and accomodating the place was fun.
The private rooms have this airplane feel to them that is surreal and the blue neon lights make you feel like you are in music video most of the time but thats a part of what made it great.
Plus, I met a band who was touring with a huge int'l famous group who had choosen to stay there because they thought it just looked cool. Note that their managers were staying at luxury suites next door in the fancy shmancy hotel and they had the option of staying in their luxury tour buses as well. Those of us at the hostel who go to know them were invited back stage to the concert and I still keep in contact. I am definitely staying at the Generator the next time I'm in Berlin.

"The best Beds of any hostel in Europe"
I stayed in the Generator in September and found it a great place to stay. I have never had such a good sleep as in the Geneartor Berlin. The service this hostel offers is very complete; Free breakfast, free Towel, free Linen. Available are internet computer and even W-lan for my laptop to update my travelpicture on my website. Also finaly a place where I could do my washing.
The Free walking tour is great and the same people aslo do a pubclaw. This is a must for people who like to have fun and want to see where the Berliners go out.
