"Very Good hotel in a quite convenient location"
I stayed there last July for one week attending a conference.
The general impression was very positive. The room was spacious, the bathroom only adequate in space, but fine. The room was overlooking a park, which was welcome given that the hotel is in the middle of Athens. The hotel is quite too, so you can wonder in hectic Athens all day and come back to relax in the afteroon or in the evening. Breakfast had a lot of variety and good quality. Staff in the breakfast room were very happy to bring us espresso or cappucino without any additional charge.
The rest of the staff were very courteous too.
The hotel is very near fast foods and more upmarket types of restaurants, and you can easily get anywhere in Athens from its location.
Check in and check out were very efficient.
The only thing I am not certain about value for money, but I stayed there in peak time for Athens, so I guess the price we paid (€110) was good.
Having been in Athens a few times, I recommend this hotel rather strongly.

"Great undervalued hotel"
I stayed at the Golden Age from Sept 28 - Oct 5, 2006. I've stayed in Athens many times in the past and found this hotel to be one of the best kept secrets in Athens. It's up the road from the over-priced Hilton and Holiday Inn. Check in took minutes. Friendly and experienced staff look after your every needs. A great buffet breakfast is uncluded, but if you don't feel like making the trek down to the restauraunt before 10 a.m., then a huge tray is brought to you for only 2.5Euros. I ordered other meals from Room Service as well and they were EXCELLENT! More than enough! The location is on a very busy street, so if peace and quiet are required, then ask for a room at the back. No view - but quiet. They also have non-smoking rooms which is rare in Greece. Metro and busses available nearby and a 15 minute cab ride will take you into the heart of the city. Taxis are always available at any time in Athens. Although the hotel is not 'grand' and overly 'fancy' it's very clean, hospitable with more than enough hot water! I would stay at this hotel again. I was safe, secure and well looked after.

"Golden Age consistently traveller friendly."
We have been staying at the Golden Age on yearly trips to Greece for the past ten years. We usually spend a day or two at the beginning of our trip and another night before we return to the States. Our return flight leaves at 6 a.m requiring us to be at the airport by 4 a.m. The hotel prepares a box lunch to take with us and also has all night parking available where we can retrieve our car at an early hour.
We require a handicap accessable room and the one they have is quite nice..with walk-in or roll-in shower.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located near many museums and gallerys and is 1 1/2 blocks from the Metro which can take you directly to Syntagma Square......
The side streets are interesting to stroll in. What a pleasant hotel for a weary traveller.
