The Shangri-la Golden Sands is located along the Batu- Ferinnggi Beach where the visitor would get to be near to the swaying palms, sprawling gardens and the blue ocean.
The Penang Island is located northwest coast of Malaysia. The capital George Town has the largest collection of pre World War II buildings in South East Asia.
** Please be note that by the 14 November 2009, all the 387 guestrooms including suites and two dedicated smoking floors will be completed.
** While the redevelopment is in progress, none of the service areas, including the pools and gardens will be affected and this include the Garden Cafe, Kuda Laut Bar and the Adventure Zone.
* Work has commenced and shall be completed in phases. This encompasses part of the existing lobby, the new Cool Lounge , Gymnasium, Spa Center, lift landings, ballroom and function rooms scheduled for completion by the end of September 2009. Work on the remaining section of the lobby encompassing the reception, porte cochere and lobby shop commences in September and is scheduled for completion by mid December 2009. At the same time, the landscaping around the resort will be enhance with more trees, plants and shrubs.
* All the rooms at the Shangri-la Golden Sands face the sea with the balcony. The room facilities include safe, TV, In house movies, mini bar, hair dryer, tea/ coffee maker, etc.
* The room types at the Shangri-la Golden Sands include seaview, island and garden view.
* The Seaview rooms at the Shangri-la Golden Sands offers king bed and overlooks the sea, tropical garden and lagoon style pool. The rooms are equipped with two arm chairs, writing desk and a sitting area. These rooms are located on the 3rd and the 6th floor.
* The Island rooms at the Shangri-la Golden Sands offer king size bed, two arm chairs and sitting area. The rooms overlook the hills and are located on 1st - 7th floor of the hotel.
* The Garden View rooms at the Shangri-la Golden Sands offer king beds, two arm chairs, writing desk and comfortable sitting area. The rooms overlook lagoon style pool and the tropical gardens.
