Golden Tulip Lisse Hotel is located close to the Keukenhof and approximately 15minutes drive from Schipol. It is also a short drive to the beach resort of Noordwijk. The rooms are medium to large, the bathrooms are of medium size and in a good condition. The rooms are quite deluxe with a mainly blue decor and some yellow giving a feminine feel to a predominantly masculine style room with two small armchairs and a wooden desk and chair . This is located on the ground floor in a large, bright and airy room and aside from breakfast, also serves a predominantly European cuisine. A low rise modern building. The lobby is small with a seating area and there is also a small bar adjacent with additional seating. The location is ideal for those wanting to visit the Keukenhof and also for those who want to be close to Amsterdam but not actually in Amsterdam. Suitable for all groups and for fits who have their own transport although there is public transport near the hotel. It is a good base from which to explore the rest of Holland and has an attractive swimming pool. |

"Great hotel value near a world-renown attraction!"
On a recent trip to Spain, my partner and I decided to break up our trip home with an overnight stopover near Amsterdam. We specifically wanted to see the world famous Keukenhof Gardens in the town of Lisse, which is an easy 20minute taxi ride from Schiphol airport. We had been to Keukenhof in 1997 but wanted to return since we now have a digital camera. You'll see why a digital camera is necessary when you go to Keukenhof...it's a sensory and olifactory experience like you've never experienced: A lush garden comprising many acres of over 6 million tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils in all their spring glory! The garden is only open from March to May every year to coincide with tulip season. The best part of this visit was our discovery of a great hotel, the Golden Tulip de Nachtegaal in the town of Lisse, which is about a mile's walk from Keukenhof. The hotel offers a "last minute Sunday special" of only 45 Euros per night, double room, including breakfast, which was perfect for us since our plans called for us to be there on a Sunday anyway. You can confirm the rate by emailing them directly. The room had ample space for 2 persons, including TV, coffee maker, ample-sized bathroom with a great shower. Great buffet breakfast, too. Also a pool. Although the hotel is nothing particularly special to look at from the outside, it doesn't really matter, because the real photo opportunity awaits you after your 20 minute walk to Keukenhof. Get your cameras ready, make sure your sinuses are clear, and start taking some award winning photos of the most beautiful tulip arrangements in the world. What follows is one of the pictures we took there this past week...it was hard to choose which one to submit, but this picture captured many brilliant colors in one shot. Enjoy Keukenhof, and enjoy the Hotel de Nachtegaal!
