"Way better than I expected"
Let me start by saying that the whole experience was WAY better than I expected after reading most of the reviews. We were at the hotel from 1/26 through the 1/31. Airport/transfers - We were through customs and on the bus in 30 minutes from arrival. Buses were waiting. Once we got on, we figured out we could have (and should have) stopped in the airport first to buy our first Red Stripe - would have tasted great. Trip lasted about 1 and 1/2 hr - we stopped about half way for beer, water, quick shopping - about 15 mintues. Our hotel was the first stop to drop off passengers so pretty painless. Driver gave us a "talking tour" on the way. Just enjoy the ride! Check-in - went very smoothly, welcome drink while we were in line, got a free upgrade to gold. Bellman was right there when we finished checkin to take our bags up. He gave us a good overview of the hotel and where to find things. Room - lovey - we did get 2 full size beds - would have preferred king but not worth the anticipated hassle to change. Plenty of hot water. Full size shower and jaccuzi tub. We did have some mosquitoes in the room and really everywhere so bring some insect repellent. In room coffee is very good - but bring creamer if you like that - or get some milk in the lobby bar and take it to put in your fridge. Milk is kind of hard to come by. Our room was completely finished and well put together. Food/bars - all was really very good. Omelettes in the morning and champagne for mimosa's at breakfast. and pasta bar at lunch and dinner in buffet restaurant. Best reservation restaurant was japanese. Came by often to re-fill wine glasses in all restaurants. Nice veranda bar with music in the evenings. Pool/beach - again - very nice - attentive staff, plenty of chairs and music not too loud. Some children but not overwhelming. Hotel is obviously still new and has some kinks to work out but we had very few complaints. We didn't pay for gold club but perks were nice. Free e-mail access 30 minutes a day, upgraded mini-bar, 24 hour room service, extra towels. We'd definitely do this trip again!

"Lovely Place"
Our stay was Jan. 18-23 2007. It was wonderful. The resort is beautiful. Understand that the resort is still in the process of being built. They are adding 2 additional buildings just like the main one, so construction is still active. When all is completed it is going to be a huge resort, so we are glad we went while we did since those big resorts are not for us. The shops are still not full but the ones they have are nice. And there is an ATM machine in the shops area. Check in was a breeze, no waiting. Although I would like to mention that the Spanish employees, while cordial enough, lack the warmth and friendliness that the Jamaican employees have. Did not see one of the Spanish workers crack a smile the entire time we were there. Also they did not interact with the guests while the Jamaican employees did. Take some time and talk with the Jamaican workers, you will learn a lot. Our room was beautiful. It did have some minor construction flaws, but given the fact that they were hurried to finish jobs to reach an opening deadline with construction going 24 hours a day, all was good mon. I am sure they will fix all the flaws as soon as possible. Be sure and tip your maid, you will get what you ask for lickity split. Same goes for the bartenders. The buffet was very good. I don't understand any of the complaints in the reviews. Lots of choices. The reservation restaurants were fabulous. We ate at two, the Italian and the Japanese (Jamaicanese per our chef). The food and service was outstanding. Fine dining for sure. My friend and I got a deep massage while there as well. It was very relaxing and felt awesome! Fran (female) did a fantastic massage. Beaches were beautiful. We opted for the natural cresent beach everyday. Andrew, one of the workers on thebeach is a great person who we got to know well. He was a "drink runner" for the guests. We tipped him daily and didn't have to worry about making the haul for drinks. The main beach in the back of the hotel is okay, pebbles everywhere so you cannot walk in bare feet if you are a tender foot like me. It is beautiful though. We did not go see the bands play during our stay, but we did hear the music from our room. Didn't go to the disco either since it opens at midnight. We were there for R&R and we got just that. From the balcony on our room we could see beautiful sunsets and the view of the cresent beach. Ahhhhhh. We will not go back to this resort because it will be too large for us once completed. We went at just the right time. I would recommend this resort, and my recommendation is to go now before it's too overwhelming. Remember to take care of the staff that serves you. It's all about respect mon. Here's a shout out to our Canadian and Ukranian friends we befriended during our stay. No problem mon!
