"We Loved It!"
I loved this hotel.
We went to Madrid strictly for the museums so the location was perfect. We asked for, and got, a high room with a view, and the fact that we had glorious weather helped. The room decor was outstanding and I'm still thinking about that bathroom--the only problem with that floor to ceiling green marble was that when I dropped a plastic hairbrush on the floor, it broke!
The staff was lovely especially the young woman, Itahisa, who checked us in. It didn't seem unusual at the time, but after the generally unfriendly reception we received in the rest of Madrid, I realize now it was (although that's another post).
The breakfast was also outstanding. In continental Europe you really can't expect more than a continental breakfast, but this was closer to the English breakfast with wonderful meats, cheese, eggs, smoked salmon, pastries, etc.
A comment about the previous post--we always ask, in writing, if breakfast is included and for a front room with a view, if available.
It's become a joke after staying in hotels both in the US and abroad that you're universally shown the worst rooms first. My sister says that when she checks in she says, "give me the room you're going to give me after I tell you I don't like the first one!" It must be something they learn in Hotel School.
