"outstanding value"
My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Grand Balisani Suites in September 2006. We chose a junior suite room (USD $78 per night) which was fully outfitted with TV, IDD telephone, large bed, extra-large and luxurious bathroom, work area, mini bar, in-room safe, AC, and balcony overlooking the beach. The hotel's many features include a giftshop, business center, 24 hour room service, full service restaurant, in-room massage, large swimming pool with swim up bar, free shuttle service to the nearby villages and beaches, and a tour booking service. Grand Balsani Suites also has a semi-private beach which is clean and enjoyable but swimming is not recommended due to rip tides and dangerous currents. Unfortunately the beach is also a gathering point for the island's ever-present and persistent vendors. The restaurant features a modest breakfast buffet and a comprehensive lunch and dinner menu with an impressive wine list. Overall the Grand Balisani Suites is a great deal for the price. I recommend this hotel to vacationing couples with no children. I intend to visit this hotel again in the near future.

"Magnificent Sunsets, Impeccable Rooms at Great Prices"
I stayed at Grand Balisani Suites over New Years 2007 and loved it! People make it sound like it’s miles and miles away from Kuta, which in a sense it is, except for the distance. The hotel provides a shuttle service, and anyway all the places which I liked (the better restaurants in Seminyak like Kudeta, Living Room, and The Legian hotel) were much closer. The peace, quiet, and sea views here are well worth the $6 for a taxi ride back from a night out with the hoi polloi. At the same time the hotel’s disarming, natural style is a refreshing break from the fancy-pants pretentiousness of some Seminyak hotels. It’s almost like a Sanur property with a sunset view – and with much better value for money than Kuta. I stayed in a Superior room on the 3rd floor of the main hotel wing (see pics); obviously recently renovated, it was spacious, cool, and very comfortable. The bathroom was airy, and had a bath and a separate shower enclosure (big enough for two, with generous amounts of piping hot water) and a beautiful dressing mirror. The room had a new TV with around 20 satellite channels and also a CD/DVD player (cool). I got glimpses of the sea from the balcony, with the sound of the ocean waves lullabying you to sleep. Absolutely no complaints – and room service was impeccable. However, don’t let them allocate you any of the ground-floor rooms behind the front desk area (they are old and dark). They seemed to be building a new fountain or something just outside the lobby; however, this seemed to be minor work and I didn’t see or hear any sounds of construction; in any case none of it was audible from within the hotel grounds. The hotel restaurant served delicious Indonesian and Western food, except breakfast, which was mediocre. A pleasant short stroll along Jalan Batubelig and you will find a few quiet restaurants also. One of the best things about the hotel is that it fronts a romantic stretch of beach, its dunes seemingly made for long sunset walks or even glorious rides on horseback (they are offered by the hotel). In contrast to the more densely-packed areas to the south, this hotel is basically the only property on the beach for a good kilometre up and down the coast, so visitors are few. Contrary to past comments, vendors were few and far between, and I walked un-pestered save by the occasional friendly dog being walked by its owner. There were also local tourists enjoying the view, and even a newlywed couple doing a horseback photoshoot. One of the most memorable parts of my trip was a walk along this shore during the full moon – definitely something to do with your partner while you are in Bali. Swimming in the roaring, pounding sea is not recommended for the faint-hearted; better to enjoy the pool, which is small but manicured, devoid of screaming children, and right next to the fine restaurant. Overall, a quiet, pleasant place to stay, great value, reasonably close to the better shops and restaurants, and most memorable for its gorgeous beachside setting.

"Back in 2004 ..."
Decided to try something new for my second visit to Bali and to meet my future Bride. Had a hotel broker give us the room # (sorry won't divulge!) and we had a room and experience for the ages. Like to swim in the surf? Watch out for the undertoe, but if you don't there is a manned guard tower. GREAT (and cheap) seafood restaurants along the beach. What you don't get is crowds and the tourist hoopla - but taxi's are so darn cheap, so enjoy going to Denpasar or Kuta/legian/Tuban/Jimbaran for shopping/special dining. The staff was spectacular. We are in the process of booking another trip to Bali, but am shocked by either new owners or greed factor. We paid 32.00usd net per night. I'm unsure if 70+ a night is worth it (ants in room and very dark bathrooms, especially when there are so many options for rooms, might be fun to check another spot out. If you haven't been to Grand Bali Sani Suites, you've missed a GEM.
