Remains a treasure with a unique charm and atmosphere...
Grand Hotel Copenhagen is a historic building which was originally constructed in the period of 1890, underwent a careful modernisation in 1998, respecting and preserving its original character. It is a 6 storey pale blue and white building, very impressive to look at.
Two white lions guard the entrance to the hotel, which gives way to a the reception, backed by stained glass windows. Easy chairs offer a place to relax and read the complimentary newspapers and magazines. Its central location, close to the station, makes the hotel popular with businesspeople, but it is increasingly appreciated by vacationers too.
Rooms are with extravangant gilded ceilings, full-wall tapestries, paintings and antiques. The Grand Hotel remains a treasure with a unique charm and atmosphere. |

"Central and perfect for travel"
I got a late deal 800DKK for a double including breakfast. Bargain in Cph - from the hotels website.
Its right next to Central Station, so if you're arriving late into the airport you can take the train almost right to the door! Perfect also for early departures.
The rooms aren't huge, but fine for tourists who aren't bothered on square feet of luxury. Breakfast is plentiful, if a little chaotic.
Theres a 7Eleven right outside, plus a steakhouse serving til 11pm next door. So you don't need room service - just pop round the corner and save cash.
Within 2 mins walk to Tivoli, 10 mins to the Walking Street and Town Hall Square.
Also 300m from the "outer Lakes" - so for those who like an early morning or afternoon jog or stroll its PERFECT. Take a run around one, two, three, or all four lakes together with the rest of the local fitness enthusiasts.

"Very nice although it needs some renovation!"
Stayed at the Grand with my husband in May 2004 for 4 nights. We arrived an hour before check-in time so we had to wait a while at the lobby before we could get the key to our room. We had booked a superior double and were a bit dissapointed when we saw that our room was pretty small with a horrible tiny bathroom (not very clean either) and a view right at the back where the trash was. We demanded a better room with a view at a higher floor and the staff were extremely polite and helped us right away. I believe that we got the best room available. Large marble bath bedrrom with separate sitting room and a champagne as a gift.
We couldn't say much after that! The location is excellent right next to Tivoli and shops the breakfast buffet delicious and the staff helped us with all our requests. We would go back although we believe it could use some renovation in order to remain a 4star hotel.

"Great hotel"
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Grand Hotel, Copenhagen. After reading some of the review we were a bit concerned, however our fears were totally unfounded. We had an excellent room (upgraded to a Suite, without even asking!), with everything you could need. Our room was quiet and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and the hot buffet was constantly refreshed. The only downside to this hotel is that there is no lounge bar - just the restaurant with stools at the bar. However if you want to be central this is an excellant location 2mins walk from the train station, with lots of pubs/bars/restaurants nearby. We would definately stay here again if we return to Denmark.
