"Good little find" Booked this as part of a package and although originally not in the area we had wanted, it turned out to be a great find. It's close to the metro which takes you into the centre in around 15 minutes max. But what is an eye opener around here is the Viaduc des Plantes - a long walkway through gardens about 20m above the road - it's a delight and takes you almost to Bastille without having to cross the roads and deal with the traffic. Below the walkway is a series of fabulous craft shops and workshops where a lot of old traditional crafts are being practised in view and their wares being sold to the public. The hotel itself has clearly undergone a recent refurbishment and is in excellent condition with good quality furnishings and fittings throughout. Although the room was not huge, it's typical for Paris but it had everything in it - fridge, hairdryer, flat screen TV, safe and a decent shower, and comfortable beds. The staff were very nice and welcoming which for me is important. Breakfast was absolutely fine - a couple of cereals, fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, yoghurts, a selection of pastries/ croissants/rolls, cold meats and cheeses. Better than your average continental breakfast. Once you stay in the area, it's definitely got its up side. There's a fairly substantial market just a couple of minutes away - this was on Tuesday bit it seems to be on more than one day. All in all, it was good value for a 2 star hotel.
