"Great hotel!"
Having seen the other feedback on this hotel, I am actually wondering if I stayed at the same place! OK. So it may not be 5 star by London standards - but it is an absolutely exquisite hotel, lots of character, fascinating decor and superb staff who couldn't have done more to help. We stayed in a standard room - hardly basic. Two huge double beds, clean and opulent. Despite our room overlooking the main street we were undisturbed - even though there was a wedding party in the Mirror Room on the Saturday ie no noise. Breakfast was a fantastic experience - have never seen so many different types of fruit, meat and cheeses. Background music transformed me back a few decades and how the wealthy Crakovians must once have lived! Location is perfect for, well, everywhere! Highly recommended! Please don't be put off by the other reviews!

"great hotel in a great city"
Yes, there are 'tired' bits of the Grand, but it is an old hotel which adds to its charm. However my wife and I loved it. We had got the grandparents to look after the children for a few days, booked an easyjet flight and used their hotel booking service to arrange the hotel. The on-line price was cheap for such a central location, but I thought I would see if I could do a deal with the hotel on arrival for an upgrade. The staff were great and showed us available rooms and we eventually settled on a suite with a huge sitting room with some big wooden doors partioning off the sleeping area. The room felt more like a home from home than rather some clinical chain hotel. There was even a bookcase with interesting books in a multitude of languages. The bathroom was down a small corridor but unfortunately the spa function of the bath was too noisy to use late at night. We thought the breakfast was good and quite imaginative. The staff were all helpfull. And as they say 'Location, Location, Location!'

"A very pleasant surprise"
I am frankly shocked to read some of the negative reviews for this hotel on this site. A group of six of us arrived at the Grand Hotel having been 'bounced' from the over-booked SAS Radisson. The reception on our arrival was courteous, and the rooms large, clean and well appointed. Well two out of the three were large, the third room (a double rather than a twin) was frankly quite small, and when I complained at reception I was advised that no other rooms were available. My heart sank, I had stayed in Polish hotels in the early nineties and was not expecting a good experience. However less than an hour later the receptionist had arranged a twin room (with the beds pushed together) and the porter moved our cases within minutes. As previously mentioned, the rooms are clean although furnished with typically Polish heavy dark furniture, the public rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was fine. A reasonable buffet of cold cuts, cheese and salmon, with cooked dishes available on request. In a small hotel of only 50+ rooms it would be profligate to run a vast breakfast buffet. The hotel location is also worthy of note, about seventy yards from the main market square, and within earshot of both the church bells, but also their accompanying fanfare. In any western city this hotel would be praised as a charming 'boutique' hotel. The consensus of our, well travelled, group is that we would stay there again without hesitation.

Friendly hotel..
We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel in May. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and friendly. Bell and doormen were professional. Front desk treated us with respect. Room was in perfect order, clean with excellent maintenance. We would stay there anytime.
