"A Grand Hotel!"
We stayed at the Grand based upon other Trip Advisor reviews. It provided everything we were looking for - a few days of relaxation in a quiet setting with nice spa facilities. English spoke by all staff.
The rooms are adequate and clean, and very good by European standards. We had twin beds pushed together. No air conditioning, which made the rooms hot to sleep in at night, even with the windows open.
My wife and I both reserved a day at the spa, having baths and massages. Absolutely the best massages we've ever had - pricey, but worth it. A large swimming pool too.
Internet is available on a pay basis in a small room near the lobby. Parking is ample and free.
The restaurant and breakfast was outstanding - fresh meats, pastries, fruits.
The town is great - only a few blocks walk away - with many nice shops and good restaurants. We enjoyed walking around the town. We tried to get into the Casino and found out, men, that jackets are required! So we had to settle for a drink at the outside bar.
Overall, a nice experience - just what two weary travellers were looking for.

"Beethoven dined here!"
I was lucky enough to have a weekend here and really loved the hotel and the small town of Baden, in spite of the smell of the sulphur from the springs in the town. (Don't worry, there are no smells near the hotel!) A bust of Beethoven welcomes you - he is reputed to have dined here. The hotel was used as a military hospital in WWII and you can almost feel the ghosts of the past. Apparently the building fell into disrepair after the war and thankfully it was fully restored about 10 years ago. It is a most impressive building and has a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the breakfast delicious and generous with wonderful service.
My room was very comfortable and clean with plenty of space and fresh fruit to welcome me. The situation on the edge of the town was perfect, within easy walking distance to all of the shops, and I felt really happy staying in this hotel and was sad to leave. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. My friends enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna whilst I explored the town. We did not want for anything. A nice touch was that the bedrooms were all named after local composers of bygone years. A paradise for classical musicians with Beethoven's house and Mozart's church only just up the road!
