The renovation and refurbishment is done on a daily basis, as the Grand Hôtel is an old and classic hotel. The latest and more extensive refurbishment of the public areas was done in January 2008. During the last 2 years the hotel has gone through a tremendous upgrade and has opened both new rooms, suites, restaurants, conference & meetings facilities and soon to come a new SPA, to be presented in 2009
Grand Hotel is bathed in the lavish splendor of the 19th Century and it rivals any of the finest hotels in Europe. Renovated and refreshed in 1986, an historical sense of opulence and dignity permeates the hotel. Royalty, Nobel Laureates and international celebrities have stayed in its baroque suites. The stylish guest rooms have kept pace with modern necessities and indeed, many inventive Scandinavian details have been added.
The hotel also offers two first class restaurants, and the Cadier Bar for the best in cocktail service. The Grand's Veranda restaurant specializes in classic Swedish fare, the famous Smorgasbord as well as the ever-popular themed cuisine weeks.

This is a fantastic hotel, but outside of the budget of most travellers.
A superb waterfront location in central Stockholm. Excellent, large rooms. Very helpful and courteious staff.
The breakfast room/dining room has great views of the harbour.
I stayed in the new wing of the building, which lacked a view and was a long walk from reception, my room was great, but I don't know if the nearer rooms, with views are as well appointed.

STAYED HERE IN MARCH THIS YEAR THE ROM WOA LOVELY BUT WE DI NOT GET MUCH OF A VIEW THE REST OF THE HOTEL AND THE LOCATON WAS PERFECT FOR GETTING AROUND AND THE BREAKFAST SUPERB
THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY HELPFUL AND APPOACHABLE FOR ANYTHNG AT ALL DURING OUR STAY |

"Perfect ending to a wonderful vacation"
We chose to spend our last night of a three week stay in Scandinavia at the Grand. It was absolutely wonderful! The staff was warm and welcoming. Before my husband could pay the taxi driver our luggage was in the lobby. Our harbor room was charming. The smorgasbord at the Grand Veranda was a delightful and delicious experience. Hope to go back someday.

"Another perfect stay"
From the moment you arrive the bellboys are on to your luggage, and escort you to the reception. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The people working at this hotel are very attentive and balanced, but also casual and filled with humour, and this gives me a good feeling. This hotel is not striking like a Four Seasons, but it ozes of history and atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are wonderful. The bathrooms are fantastic. I enjoyed every second of my room. The food is excellent. And the breakfast at the Verandan is abosolute amazing. I have stayed in many LHW-hotels around the world, but this hotel have to be my favourite when it comes to the breakfast. The location of the hotel is very convenient. The staff at the Grand makes you relax and feel very welcome.
That's why I am returning to this wonderful hotel each time I am in Stockholm.

FIABCI CONGRESS 1983
A vivid reflection ! I just wanted you to know what an experience it was for my late wife & me to be part of the 1000+- Delegates who in 1983 had the enormous pleasure of enjoying the FIABCI Congress 1983 in May, especially the Ice Breaker party (May 22) in the Winter Garden where I-; the Pianist at your Grand Piano, + my late wife & 2 other Delegates, played & sang "Waltzing Matilda" = a great Australian Song-; & of which I have an "official" photo of.
