"Steps To The Old Town"
Hotel Grand Union Executive is well located just a few blocks from the charming old town district of Ljubljana. The hotel is clean and quiet with modern rooms. Breakfast was included in the room rate and consisted of a very nice variety of foods. While not the cheapest choice, the cobination of location, quality accomodations and pleasant staff make this a hotel one worth the price.

"O.K"
We only stayed here for one night, arriving at about 9pm and leaving at 5am for an early flight. It was pouring with rain so, sadly, we saw very little of Ljubljana. We found the hotel O.K in the short time we were there and had no complaints. It could be a beautiful place as it is very grand but needs updating and an injection of warmth and charm. We found this in some other hotels in Slovenia, as if the country as a whole hasn't quite caught up with the modern age. In some repects, this lack of modernity is quite appealing. We ate in the basement restaurant, as the apparently superior other restaurant is closed on a Sunday (as is most of Ljubljana), and were pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look much but the food was really very good, though the service was poor, there weren't enough tables and smoking is permitted throughout.

"Great location, great hotel"
I treated my girlfriend to a break in Slovenia and we stayed at the Grand Union Executive for 2 nights. The hotel was in a superb location, 2 minutes walk to the river and the Three Bridges so top marks for location. The rooms were obviously suited for the businessman as they didn't have much personality but I hear that many hotels in Ljubljana are targeted at the business user. The rooms were clean and light though we were at the back of the hotel and with that you get noise from the generators and air conditioners. Only a slight gripe. There is a swimming pool at the top of the hotel which isn't open air as I did believe but the views are stunning. There is also a sauna. All hotel staff were attentive and very friendly. All in all a great place to stay in Ljubljana though look around the web for the best price as the basic asking price is a little steep.
