"Worth the price!"
This hotel is sumptuous. It was a splurge but worth every penny. The rooms were amazing, the lobby awe-inspiring and the location was great for seeing Vienna. We recommend highly. We also found room service to be excellent quality and a very good value at this hotel. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but lunch and dinner was great!

"Excellent option"
Behind the old façade is a modern and very comfortable hotel rebuilt in a kind of grand hotel style. Rooms are large, in excellent condition and have five-star detailing. The food is very good: I had dinner at the Japanese restaurant and the buffet - expensive at 30€ - for breakfast. Free business centre with very fast computers. The leisure facilities are limited for this category, just a small fitness room. Service is consistenly good and they really make you feel welcome. Of the historic hotels around the Ring, the Grand probably comes second: much better than the Bristol and the Imperial (both looked tired) but behind the Sacher (in a category of its own after the recent renovations). Just one negative point: the public areas get very smoky (even in the restaurants, where the separation between smokers and nonn smokers is artificial).

"Great Hotel"
My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Wien from May 11th to May 15th. It is a great hotel. Beautiful furnishings in a lovely setting. Except for one receptionist at the front desk, all of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The two concierges were great and we asked them lots of questions. The hotel is in a great location. Right on the ring, connected to an mall with an amazing gourmet grocery in the basement and a few cafes at street level. It is only 1 block to the Kärntnerstrasse pedestrian shopping street and the opera house. The U Ban entrance is also 1 block away. We had the deluxe room with a king size bed which, while not as large as the executive, still had plenty of room. The bed was a little harder than we like but not uncomfortable. It was in the 80s when we were there. I like the room to be like a meat locker so, for me, the a/c could have been a little colder but it was better than most hotels in Europe and we requested a fan to supplement it and the room temperature was fine. Our room also had a view of the ring which was very nice. The electronic phone system was a little difficult to work. I accomplished opening and closing the drapes and blinds and turning off the lights, but we could never get a "live" person to answer from the front desk or housekeeping. Housekeeping would call back at least to find out what we wanted. And, they were excellent in cleaning the room, turn down and getting us whatever we requested. . We finally figured out to call the assistant manager to speak to a "live" person. The hotel also has free internet. I didn't bring my laptop but the business center has 4 computers with high speed access which was free. I was usually the only person in there. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as their buffet is aboutg $40 a person and not worth it. We walked to the Starbucks twice which is a block away when we were in a hurry or to the Mozark Cafe which is next to the Sacher Hotel which has a great breakfast. The hotel also has a very nice outdoor cafe attached to the lobby bar. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel

wonderful hotel
Stayed at Grand Hotel 5/14-5/19/06 and had a wonderful stay. The service was top notch all around from concierge to room service. The location is ideal for sightseeing. Hotel arranged opera tickets with one day notice- great seats for "sold-out" performance. Breakfast at Grand Cafe was very good. Room service was also quite good and prompt. The rooms are lovely. I stayed in an exclusive room, but also saw the superior and deluxe rooms which were also quite nice. The beds are very comfy. Loved the touch screen system for controlling lights/drapes/tv/radio, etc. The staff were all wonderful. The english is impeccable from the front desk to the wait staff in the restaurants. Needless to say, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
