Conveniently located, beautiful hotel with a swimming pool in walking distance to all the major sites in Florence, what more can you ask for?

"excellent hotel , nice staff"
Villa de Medici is a very nice hotel with big rooms and a nice very helfull staff . Even the restaurant is well above average and one of the few example that hotels can indeed have a very good kitchen and service.
The only real disappointment was breakfast. You may think that for what they charge (more then 30 euros) you get outstanding food. But the cooked ham would barely make it on a pizza and also the other food and cut meats / bread hardly meet the quality this hotel otherwise shows.
we'll get back there but I guess we will go get breakfast somewhere else.

"Great Hotel"
Just stayed with family and had a very nice time. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful, rooms are stylish, and the pool although small is quite nice after a day of touring. The only negatives are that the location is slightly removed from the sights and the beds are NOT very comfortable.

"Excellent Hotel with very helpful staff"
My wife and I spent 3 nights at this beautiful hotel earlier this month. Our room was very nice - overlooking a magnificent swimming pool. This was surprising for a city hotel. The hotel is well located, about 10-15 minutes walk to the museums and attractions. The outside restaurant close by the pool served excellent food, but the atmosphere was affected by kids splashing and playing in the pool at 9:00 pm.
My wife's suitcase did not arrive when we flew to Rome from the U.S. and we drove to the hotel in Florence without it. The hotel desk staff was both friendly and very helpful to us in attempting to retrieve the suitcase. One of the staff, "Big" Martino, actually drove us to the Florence airport to search for the suitcase and returned on his own to continue the search.

"Wonderful hotel!"
We stayed here on a deal we got through Orbitz, which got us a fabulous 2-bathroom suite for the same price as hotels in the main tourist zone were asking for small single rooms. Upon arrival, the concierge walked us to our room, and 10 minutes later we received a complimentary bottle of good champagne and snacks - what a pleasant surprise!
The front desk staff remembers you and your room number, and are unfailingly helpful. The concierge can get you reservations at the Uffizi or the Accademia, which you will need to have to avoid waiting in line for 3 hours during high season.
Speaking of dinner, the food at the hotel is fantastic. The assorted cheese plate is wonderful, but bear in mind that in Italy the assorted cheese plate is not a small sampling of cheese like in the U.S., but half a pound or more of good Italian cheese. It's a meal in itself!
I'd definitely stay here again.

"Grand Hotel Villa Medici -- A Gem
My fifteen year old daughter and I spent seven nights at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici during the first week of July 2005, the second leg of our annual 'Mother-Daughter" summer holiday. A former palazzo converted to a luxury hotel, the Grand Hotel Villa Medici is an absolute gem in the heart of Florence. The staff was warm and welcoming, and our room was HUGE, clean, and tastefully decorated. Fresh fruit and flowers were placed in our room daily, and the beautiful walled garden -- with the only swimming pool in the city of Florence -- provided a lovely afternoon respite after a day of hot summer sightseeing. The hotel enjoys a terrific location and is within walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Palace Museum, the Academy of Art (where Michelangelo's David stands), the Boboli Gardens, the Duomo, and all the shopping and sightseeing spots you can imagine. It is also about three blocks from the train station and very close to the Arno River, great for an evening stroll. Everyone at the Hotel was courteous, friendly, and professional. The concierge staff greeted us by name each time we entered and exited the hotel, making us feel right at home. They also saved us countless hours of waiting in long lines by booking 'reserved' tickets for us at major sights and arranged a most memorable hot-air balloon/horseback riding adventure through the Tuscan countryside . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel and would HIGHLY recommend the Grand Hotel Villa Medici to anyone who enjoys gracious service, exquisite accomodations |
