"Excellent Value - Great Location"
We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children, including 1 baby 6 months old)
We booked 4 nights in two inter-connecting Club Rooms.
Lovely rooms, comfy beds, good bathrooms. Very clean, nicely decorated (looked like it had been recently refurbished).
With having booked Club Rooms we were checked in on the 26th floor. Very friendly staff and made us feel welcome. Club Lounge is nice, and every evening we went for the free drinks and canapes. During the day you can have coffee, tea etc. You can also use the internet (quite fast) on two terminals they have.
The location of the hotel is brilliant. It's attached to the Fortune Mall, which is a great computer mall (hubby thought he was in 7th heaven) but there is enough to keep the ladies happy too. Few Massage parlours, Giant sports store, Tesco Lotus, make-up shops etc.
Great Food Court and the Mall also has an excellent choice of restaurants too ... check out the Japanese. Great food and very cheap. Also, if you like egg tarts, check out the little stall in the food court in front of the Tesco entrance ... to die for :-)
It was so convenient having this mall attached to the hotel.
If you wanted to get to other parts of Bangkok the underground is just there and only a couple of stops before it connects you to the BTS (Also, I think the hoel runs shuttles to the Asoke (sp?)- BTS connection)
We had breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Very, very nice. Service a bit average ... but the food wonderful. Fresh leg of ham that you could carve off as much as you wanted!!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel (we have been to LandMark and Marriott Resort on previous stays).
We didn't use the pool as we were too busy ... but we checked it out. It's not bad at all for a big city hotel pool. Better than the Landmarks. It's small, but has a nice "feel" to it.
The Club Lounge staff were really friendly and always made such a fuss of the kids.
The Fortune was such a good value for money hotel. Would definately stay again.

"Great hotel, Great location!!!!!"
Stayed at the Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel 2 night in august 2006, nice hotel, great location. If you exit the hotel and walk about 50 meters you reach the subway line at Phra 9 Station, only 2 stops to Sukhumvit/Asok Station where you can transfer to the BTS Skytrain. I'ts convenient becaus you are distant from the noisy Sukhumvit area, but via the Subway you can reach it in about 2 minutes. Hotel is very nice, clean, rooms are spacious, bathroom clean. staff firendly but not to mutch... Overall a quite unremarkable hotel. Try it if you get a cheap rate on the internet.

"Excellent location for new airport and MRT - a good value 4* hotel"
The main advantage that this hotel has is its location. The Phra Ram 9 MRT station is literally on the doorstep, and the hotel is connected to the Fortune Town mall with its numerous stores and Tesco Lotus hypermarket. In addition, the expressway to the new airport is just minutes away, so on a good day, the journey is only around 20 minutes. Though it'd be best to allow 40 minutes in case of traffic...
I think the hotel represents very good value for money. Certainly not the best 4* hotel I have stayed at in Bangkok, but the rooms are fairly spacious and very clean. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment overall - I went downstairs and was told that due to the discounted rate I'd paid for the room, I'd have to have breakfast on the 9th floor instead :( Here the service was extremely slow, however on a good note, the staff were very helpful when I said I was a vegetarian and asked the chef to prepare me with special items.
Wireless broadband internet access is a little costly - other hotels I've stayed in offer free access in the lobby, whereas the Fortune doesn't.
