Fabulous hotel !!
We just returned from our 11 nights stay at this wonderful hotel. We splurged and had a huge balcony with seaview and it was worth EVERY penny .. the service was wonderful - everyone friendly without loosing their professional edge and we cannot praise them enough for exceptional value ! We have never stayed in one place for this length of time - usually pack on thousands of kms but treated ourselves to a long stay here. Could not believe how quiet the huge pool was and the restaurant was 1st class. We often went into town for dinner as well and the bus service was the envy of other hotels I am sure ! Patrizia (our reservation agent) was just so lovely and helpful .. I would NOT hesitate to recommend this great hotel - but make sure you get a seaview (you'll kick yourself if you dont). "Excellent Hotel Loved it."
We returned to the Grand Hotel Vesuvio for the second time and found it to be exactly as it was the first time we stayed. The rooms are spotless with daily linen and towel changes, the maid sevice is second to none. The views from the balcony are spectacular. Would recommend a sea view. The food is excellant a good choice of menu something to suit everyone. The staff are very polite, very helpful and make you feel very welcome. Booked this hotel for next year and would recommend it to anyone.

"Fell in love with Sorrento"
We stayed here in August with Jules Verne. The seaview from our room was breathtaking, over the bay with the volcano looming in the background, wonderful for the almost nightly (or so it seemed) spectacular fireworks. The room was spotlessly clean and unobtrusively air conditioned. No tea or coffee but there never is abroad is there? Our daughter had a room at the back of the hotel and preferred it as it was quieter,overlooked a little garden and got the afternoon sun (lovely for a sunbathe on the balcony before dinner) The food was standard hotel fare, it would have been nice to have had more fresh fruit but the salad bar was impressive.I am a vegetarian but the staff couldn't have been more helpful providing other options cheerfully and without making me feel at all embarrassed, if nothing was suitable. They also let us try tiny samples of all desserts when we couldn't decide (didn't we feel special!) They gave complimentary wine to honeymooners/anniversary couples if they found out about them. Service was exceptional, not intrusive but friendly and helpful (and great for self esteem of teenage daughter and middle aged mum!!)Italians are so charming! The pool and gardens were beautiful, the outdoor bar was dark but candle lit at night with views over the lit up bay complete with lit up cruise ships. The regular, complimentary hotel bus for the five minute trip down to Sorrrento was a bonus as the walk down to the town meant negotiating a really busy and winding road and again the drivers were really helpful and polite. Sorrento and the Amalfi coast were a revelation, I am a fairly reluctant traveller and this is the first place I have ever wanted to go back to to see more. I would certainly go back to the the Hotel Grand Vesuvio and recommend it for the views and excellent service alone. We can't wait to go back.
