LOCATION
Grande Bretagne Hotel is located 27 km away from the international airport of Athens. The central and convenient location of the hotel provides easy access to many of the local sights. There is a metro station just outside the hotel.
Grande Bretagne Hotel is situated on Syntagma Square, where business and commercial districts are located. Here, you can visit the Greek Parliament as well as the National Garden, Zappeio and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.
The hotel is within walking distance from the Acropolis. This ancient town houses the temple of Parthenon, which provides a fascinating reminder of classic Greek civilization. Other important historical buildings such as the Erectheion and the Temple of Athena Nike are also located in the Acropolis.
Plaka area, the oldest section of Athens, is also within walking distance from the hotel. There, you will find the Ancient Market, the Temple of Hephaestus, known as Thisseio, and the Tower of Winds. You can also enjoy browsing through stores.

"Loved the Grande Bretagne!"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and absolutely loved it! We accumulated enough points and was able to get 2 free nights there. This helped with our honeymoon budget!
Take advantage of the spa - it is a MUST! The service was beyond our expectations and the food was to die for. This Starwood hotel was just what we needed. Also experience tea time there - yummy tea sandwiches and decent assortment of their teas. The best was dining on their roof garden when you had the view of the Acropolis. Breakfast and dinner there was surreal.
You only need 2 days in Athens, but my husband and I really took advantage of the spa. We can't stop raving about it! We wish we had the opportunity to lay out at the pool, but we had enough sun when we were in Santorini.
Close to Plaka and convenient location for shops. Would definitely come back here!

"And a personal butler to boot!"
My three year old daughter and I stayed at the Grande Bretagne after two weeks of a very harsh vacation in Greece. I had almost given up on finding good service and nice people in Greece until we checked into the Grande Bretagne. Despite my making a mistake on the reservation (it was for the wrong year), the hotel was very accommodating and found a beautiful room for us. The room was not ready when we arrived at 10am, but the concierge took us up to the rooftop pool and spa. We had no problems getting sun chairs (there was no wait at all), and we used the beautiful ladies lounge to change into our swimsuits. When our room was ready, our personal butler, Spyros, came to the pool and escorted us to the room. The room was gorgeous with marble and tapestries and the bathtub was big enough for two adults. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant which had a jaw dropping view of the Acropolis, wonderful food (I recommend the lobster salad), and an impressive wine selection. The waitress even allowed my daughter to order from the hotel's room service menu because she really wanted chicken nuggets. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend the Grande Bretagne to everyone.

"The best hotel ever!"
My god, this is the best hotel I have stayed in.
The location is excellent.
My room has some luxourious that i didn't want to leave. There was actually 2 candelier in my room. The decor is lovely, grand mix with contemporary.
The bathroom was amazing. Marble everywhere. Massive bath and a huge walk in shower.
Must dine in the restaurant at the top of the hotel. The wine recommended was good and the food was excellent. The view was great as well, and it wasn't actually that expensive either!!
Highly recommended.

"As Advertised"
My wife and I stayed at the Grande Bretagne for one night in early June on our way to the islands. The hotel was a perfect first stop, and gave us everything we could have wanted. Highlights:
~We arrived at 10:30am, and there was no issue at all with checking in. This was a huge bonus considering 16 hours of flying from San Francisco.
~The rooftop pool is beautiful. We went there before it was crowded and had refreshing drinks and lunch. Amazing view of the city, and very helpful service opening up umbrellas and attending to your needs. Also, the separate rooftop restuarant is very swank and I wished we would have eaten there--great view of the Acropolis!
~The rooms were exactly what we needed--and everything worked! In room movies, high speed internet, big bathroom and a nice view of Parliament from the balcony. We did our walking tour of Plaka plus dinner and came back to a comfortable bed for our first night.
~Room service took 15 minutes and although expensive, was very tasty.
All in all, we were very pleased with our stay and would not look elsewhere when we return.

"Beautiful hotel, extraordinary spa... but too many cruise ship travelers!"
We stayed at the Grande Bretagne for a weekend in June. The GB is conveniently located across the street from the Parliament building and next to the premier shopping district of Athens. Being SPG Platinum members, we were ushered directly upstairs to an executive lounge and check-in area. We were upgraded to a suite next to the Royal Suite. The butler service was a little daunting, but might be appreciated by some. The one thing that was noticeable in an unfavorable way was the sheer volume of cruise ship passengers who had booked the hotel in concert with packages. This was apparent in the line waiting for loungechairs by the rooftop pool. That's right, A LINE TO SIT BY THE POOL! The spa on the other hand was absolutely incredible. Despite the ragtag crowds, I would still recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Athens.

"loved the GB Athens!"
I loved staying in this hotel! It was an experience of a lifetime! I couldn't wait to get to bed every night...the beds were heavenly. The staff was wonderful, helpful and cheerful. The pool was great and well-run. The breakfast buffet on the rooftop was opulent and delicious with the best view in town. The convenience of it's central location was great for me because I loved walking all over town. It is pricey, but worth it.

"Wonderful"
The location is great. This hotel is definitely pure luxury. (The rooms are very similar to the Venetian in Las Vegas except they are 1/3 the size and cost 2/3 more). We dined in the Corner Bistro one evening. While the service was excellent, the same cannot be said for the food. The Winter Garden is beautiful but they did not seemed thrilled when we went to sit there with our toddler. The room where the breakfast buffet is served has a wonderful view of the Acropolis, but it is pricey. The first day we ate there it was 20 Euros a piece. The next day they charged us 28 Euros a piece. When we asked why, they said it was because we had taken food from the hot buffet as well as the cold. I had taken TWO pieces of bacon how they can justify 8 Euros for that, I don't know. Despite that we would stay here again.
