"EXCELLENT Little Hotel! - Nice, Cozy, and great beer!"
My wife and I just concluded our 4 day stay at this hotel and loved every minute of it. I just read the review below and was left a bit puzzled. If you're looking to stay at a big hi-rise in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown, then this place is not for you. If you're looking for a smaller (decent sized) hotel with a relaxed environment (not to mention romantic), and is a 3 minute drive (5 minute water taxi ride) from downtown Vancouver, then this IS the hotel for you. Granville Island is actually a little peninsula (more like a giant pier) with a very laid back feel to it, complete with a down-home fresh foods market, like something you would see in the movies. There are several shops and plenty of excellent places to eat FRESH seafood, including the Dockside Restaurant and pub (microbrew). The hotel is right on the water (harbor) with a direct view of the hi-rises of Vancouver. There is plenty of pathway to take a romantic walk around the island (on the water) and to observe water traffic. The hotel itself is pretty up-to-date (complete with Internet access) and the staff is very nice and extremely helpful. We stayed in an executive suite, which had a separate living room, and was facing the water and downtown Vancouver... an excellent view. If you're going to stay for more than one night, I would highly recommend spending the extra few bucks for the upgrade. I've stayed in all types, all ratings of hotels around the world and I rank Granville Island Hotel as one of my top picks due to the location and relaxed environment... especially for an adult getaway.

"Great Location"
The hotel is in a fabulous location - right on the water, central to everything in Vancouver and right in the middle of a quaint and picturesque area. We had a wonderful view of the water traffic in the day and the skyline at night. The "island" has a large market with good food at reasonable prices and the hotel restaurant is top notch. The staff was friendly, room service prompt and the free internet in the lobby was a help. This hotel is not a luxury 5-star resort type hotel but we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting and central place to stay in the city.

"Fantastic!"
This is a wonderful hotel with really nice staff and is a beautiful place to go for a drink or to stay.
We arrived after a 9 hour flight from London on our honeymoon and thanks to our bestman the hotel knew about this and upgraded us.Then later in the evening the booking for the penthouse was cancelled, and guy at the desk asked if we would like to move. This was more than considerate and made for a wonderful first night.
Apart from the special treatment that we recieved we found all the people who worked there to be really nice and interested in having a conversation.
This is a very well set up hotel. The views of South Downtown are amazing . |
