"Loved our stay there !"
We spent 4 nights at this hotel in December and we just loved it. We travelled around the country for nearly 1 month (honey Moon) and clearly this hotel was one of our favorite. We actually stayed there 3 nights, then went to Blue Mountains and came back for our last night in Australia. As per arrangement that we had, this last night was indeed a "free night" and we were upgrated in a bigger room with view on the Opera house. This was a really nice attention because standards room are a bit small (but however comfortable and well furnished). The staff was very helpful and all our requests have been handeled very professionally. We also enjoyed the bar, there is a nice terrace and a good choice of beer and wines. The location of the hotel is just perfect and we would definitly go there if we had to stay in Sydney again one day |

"Great Location,Very Reasonably Priced, Great Value for Money"
Stayed on the top floor at rear of hotel, could just see the opera house roof and harbour for 4 nights in June 2006, as it was out of season managed to get a very, very reduced room rate (especially for Sydney), so do try to negotiate price in winter months when they are quiet. Not the most luxurious of hotels, but very clean, well maintained and very helpful, cheerful staff, great value for money. Our room was quite small and basic, shower was wonderful, most powerful shower I have ever known and you could fit 3 people in it, but as another reviewer has mentioned - the sink was very small and water splashed everywhere if you tried to have a wash!!
Agree with everyone else, location, location, location - you cant fault it, our room was very quiet wenever heard a noise, but on the doorstep and within walking distance for all major attractions, yet great holiday rather than city centre feel as located in historic and interesting part of city. Very near Tourist Info Centre and crafty type shops and lots of good restaurants. Breakfast excellent, very varied and large portions, did not eat in hotel at night but it looked pleasant enough.
Overall we felt hotel had a nice family atmosphere as opposed to the usual inpersonal large chain of hotels which you find in every city in the world now. Would definitely recommend it, as lets face it with a wonderful city like Sydney you're not going to be in your hotel room very much anyway, so why pay a fortune!!

"Champagne on the Rocks"
Stayed for a romantic night, and was not dissapointed. The staff are the best i've delt with. (and i've travelled Europe) Katie, and Paul could not have been more gracious or friendly, right down to the champagne and greeting card on arrival.A lovely touch.
The room was spotless, the bathroom had a double size shower, and we had a great little view of the Opera House. The great thing i noticed was you had no noise at all from people coming or going in the room's next door, and all the staff are very discreet.Ate at Lanes restaurant in the hotel, food was very good and the courtyard is a nice spot complete with lovely old tree.Breakfast is a must out there, huge cooked breakfast that you really have trouble getting through, and great selection of fruits, cold meats, cheeses, breads etc everything you want for a lazy Sunday breakfast including your paper. The location is the best, step out the door to explore all the Rocks has to offer. For a night away, or an oversea's visit, don't go past this gem of a hotel. It's small enough to give you great service with a personal touch.
