No good sleep
The hotel has an open leisure/gathering area surrounded by many hotel rooms. I stayed a few nights last month (June 08). My room was just facing the area. Every night, there were gathering there with people talking, laughing, drinking etc. At one night, there was actually a party down there. The gatherings usually last until 4 am to 5 am. As we had to leave the window open to cool off the afternoon sunshine (no A/C in the room) and for better ventilation, we could hardly sleep at night. The hotel therefore even cannot fulfil the basic function of a B&B - 'bed'. |

Good value hotel
I have been in Amsterdam in May, 2008 and stayed in Hem Hotel Amsterdam for two nights. The hotel does not have fabulous facilities like the other hotels you pay a lot, but meet your requirements in a perfect way. The hotel features a convenient location close to tram stop and basicly furnished, clean rooms. The staff was friendly and fluent in English. All in all, this hotel is a good value hotel for your short trips. |

"Recommend to others"
We have read all these reviewes and we were little bit nervous. We booked "standard room" that was very nice and clean. Daily cleaning included. As was said before check the prices on diff websites. We had some difficulties to find this hotel... so for another visiters-go by tram to station "Delflandlaan" from that point should be easy to get to hotel. Connection (tram no.2) takes about 20minutes to reach the center. We would go there again. We were surprised for charging the internet connections and some pay-TV channels...

"Trev and Wendys Adventure at the Hem"
After seeing the bad reviews we were very scared but when we arrived we were greated by a very good looking obese receptionist who was very friendly. We were in the cheapy rooms in the portakabin oppisite. The room was very warm and the beds were very comnfortable which took our minds of the stains on the walls and the bad paint jobs. The shower did look like a tap but was ok once you had got over your 3rd degree burns. The gardens in the grounds were lovely just liek the ground force team had been in. The surrounding area was lovely with high quality luxury apartments all around we felt like we were back at home on our luxury Manchester ouncil estate. The only negative to our stay was the toilet it looked like it bleonged in a hospital

"Fair price for a good base"
I was well satisfied with the hotel, pleasant & helpful staff, clean rooms , good, well priced food. The short walk to the tram is pleasant if you walk up the side of the water and if you walk about a block in the other direction you'll find a shopping plaza where in sits an excellent Chinese Restaurant - really good Chinese cuisine at a good price.

"brilliant holiday"
Went to the hem hotel feb 05 and when we first got there thought it was a bit far away but once we realised how easy the trams were quite enjoyed the journey into the town as you got to see more than just the main centre. rooms were ok could of done with a tea and coffee maker in room but bar stays open late and opens early also taxis outside which are great so you dont have to walk far to a rank. best thing about this hotel are the staff one barman in particular made our holiday and this hotel would definetely be worth going back to just to see him.go to the sea palace chinese on the water. expensive but well worth it.

"The best anyone could expect"
We visited Amsterdam just for a weekend and were looking for a simple and cheep hotel for the overnight with a simple location - not to get lost. Hem Inn made our visit overwhelming, really!!! We've heard about some cheep hotels in the city and new, what we could expect, but it was really the best surprise - when we got to our room, we even wondered, if there was no mistake that we were accomodated in such a nice room. Then the breakfast... We were full of it for the whole day :) The location - very simple: a bit out of those noisy streets, you need only one tram (No2) for the day and one bus for a night time; then it's on the half way to the Riksmuseum and Van Gog Museum - this way you get there first in the morning and do not need to say in long lines to get in. I'll certainly stay there the next time and would recommend it for everyone, whose looking for nice budget class hotel and pleasent memorries for a decent price.

Very nice, practical and cost effective
I and my wife stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, in a twin bed room. That was our first trip to the Netherlands. We are impressed with our room. Nice beds, neat bathroom. Good view of the motor way from the window. Our room had a remote controlled AC. The TV was a bit small though, but we had no time to watch TV anyway!
Staff in the reception are very friendly, and are very willing to help you pland your journeys, and give advice. They all spoke good English. |
