"Enjoyed our stay at the centrally located hotel"
After doing extensive research, my sister, brother-in-law, husband and I spent 2 nights at the Heritage Christchurch in early November at a rate of $282NZD per day. It received 4+ stars from Qualmark, NZ's hotel rating system, 4 stars from Virtual Tourist, and a 2/3 rating from Frommers. We requested a 2 bedroom suite in the Old Government Building (OGB) which was perfect for our foursome and we were not disappointed. The reception desk is in the main tower, but the spa, gym and restaurant are all located in the OGB.
The hotel is centrally located, just across the street from Cathedral Square and is within a few feet of the free city shuttle and other bus transportation. It is also walking distance to many restaurants, the information center, the Avon River and lots of shopping.
The suite was 2 levels, with both bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom had a bathroom in it with a shower stall. The second bathroom was located downstairs and had a larger tub and a very small washer/dryer. The downstairs had an open floor plan which encompassed the living room, kitchen and dining room. This set up was ideal for watching TV and hanging out.
The staff was very nice and accommodating and we greatly enjoyed our stay. There is wi-fi in all public areas of the hotel and we had a good internet connection in the room, though internet access was not free (it isn't free anywhere in NZ), and cost about $25NZD per day.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Christchurch. You don't really need a car to get around because of its central location and the abundance of transportation options within walking distance of the hotel.

"Excellent City Centre Hotel"
When searching for an alternative to the hotel we had originally booked in Christchurch the extremely helpful staff showed me a deluxe room on the tenth floor. Wow! What a room.
I immediately reserved this room for the following night .
On arrival the following night it proved to be as good as I remembered and we would stay here on any future visits.
The room was very spacious, luxuriously appointed and furnished in a modern style and colour scheme.
The bathroom was of a reasonable size and well appointed.
The only meal we sampled was the breakfast which was more than adequate.
We got a special rate of just over £60. Remarkable value for a hotel of this standard.

"Incredible hotel! Great value"
I believe that the hotel has two seperate buildings. The one that we stayed in was a converted historic government building. We had a two bedroom, two story apartment, with full kitchen, living room, washer dryer. The building itself was beautiful with crown mouldings, double staircase, stained glass windows. Our room was just lovely and completely spotless. Service was great too and the location was perfect - walking distance to everything. I can't remember exactly what we paid, but we kept wondering why they didn't charge more.
