The Hermes hotel is a 9-Story Hotel which overlooks the Gulf of Mirabello. The hotel is just accross the road from a long narrow stretch of shingle beach. The beach is man made and hotel guests can access the beach through a tunnel so you dont have to cross the road.
The Hermes hotel is just a 5 minute walk to the port of Aghios Nikolaos where you will find some excellent bars, tavernas and restaurants. The port also offers you the option of taking a daily boat trip. The most popular trip is to the former leper colony and fortress on the Island of Spinalonga.

Take the local bus and visit Elounda which is 10km away. The journey time is about 15 minutes and there is a bus stop literally infront of the Hermes hotel.
From Aghios Nikolaos port you can take a boat trip to the unoccupied island of Spinalonga. Once on Spinalonga you can explore the abandoned leper colony and the fortress. There are some lovely small pebble beaches on Spinalonga which are ideal for a picnic. As there is no accommodation on the Island you can only visit for a day.
If you turn left out of the Hermes hotel, there is a small sandy beach just a 5 minute walk away.
