"Herodion was fantastic!"
Echoing what others have said about the Herodion. We loved everything about it and would recommend that anyone looking for a hotel in Athens to consider the Herodion.

"A comfortable hotel in the acropolis area"
We just got back from a 4 night stay at the Herodian. This hotel was very clean, fairly quiet, and comfortable. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room we were assigned (rm 317) had a beautiful view of the Parthenon, a true king-sized bed, and was a non-smoking room- all our requests were met. The room was not at all luxurious but was fine for our purposes- we would stay here again. We only paid $150 a night ($175 after fees and taxes) and I'm not sure we'd want to pay much more. The room was fairly basic.
The hotel deserves an above average rating for several reasons. It was exquisitely clean. The location was perfect for seeing the major archeological sites of Athens. It was within easy walking distance of the acropolis, the ancient agora, the temple of zeus, the pynx, and the plaka. It was about 3 blocks from the acropolis metro station for easy transport to other parts of the city including the airport and Pireaus port. The common areas of the hotel were quite nice; we especially enjoyed the roof garden at night with a view of the lit acropolis. The jacuzzi area one storey down from the roof looked very nice but we never got a chance to enjoy it. We also had a nightcap in the bar area and liked that area as well.
If you can get a good price for this hotel, go for it.

"Great Location!"
Intimate hotel by the entrance to the Acropolis and very close to all the Plaka (historic district) has to offer !!
I recommend choosing a location where you can easily access everything, as one gets tired from all the walking, and needs to break mid day for siesta! Especially in the heat of the summer.
When the new Acropolis museum opens, this hotel is practically next door.
Rooms are small, as most in Athens, but very clean and the beds are very comfortable. The air c s quiet and individually controlled. The Front desk personnel were very pleasant and helpful.
Rooftop hot tubs were refreshing, and they have a view of the Acropolis!
Lobby Internet costs, oh well, but not too much (4 euros per hr).
Lobby bar is no more expensive than local taverns.
