After opening in July 2005, Hotel Highland is the only hotel of real standard operating in the interior of the Icelandic Highlands. Hotel Highland is within walking distance of the Hrauneyjarfoss Power Plant and the falls and rapids of Hrauneyjarfoss. The hotel is open from May 15 to September 15 for individuals and all year for groups.

Hotel Highland is located in the highland of Iceland, north east of the Mt. Hekla the volcano. Hotel Highland is situated at the edge of the country´s most impressive and active volcanic area. The hotel lies only 1.4 km from the Hrauneyjar Highland Center and 150 km from Reykjavik.

The area is teeming with great sites for adventure and is the perfect base for visiting as many of them as time allows. It also has a great location to try out all the activities the region has to offer. Trout and char fishing in this pristine area is world-class and it has still barely been discovered by guests from outside Iceland.
