"Far Exceeded my Expectations!"
I was weary of staying at the Phuket Hilton for several reasons. First, from the pictures on the website it looked like everything was a bit dated and in need of renovation. Second, I wanted to feel like the I was in Thailand, not in some generic-themed resort.
I must say, however, that all my qualms were immediatelly quelled upon arrival. The service was excellent all around the hotel. The receptionist personally walked us to our room and provided hot towels and juice while checking in. We had a huge basket of fruit waiting in our room for us. The room was very nicesly decorated to feel like we were in Thailand. It was also serviced twice daily.
The hotel grounds were expansive, with multiple pools, restaurants, chipping range, etc. You really felt isolated and away from all the other hustle and bustle of the island. At night, the hotel was beatifully lit up.
The highlight of my stay was at the spa. It was one of the best spa experiences of my life. Each person has their own private villa with outdoor shower, and personally adaptive temperature, music, lighting to suit your needs. The experience was simply amazing, with the staff anticipating every need of mine before I even asked.
The only downside of the stay that was somewhat odd was the availability of taxis. You have to go out the back entrance of the hotel by the beach to catch a taxi. When trying to go to the airport, we thought we could have the bell boy call a cab for us and pick us up at the reception. They said that wasn't possible, so they hand-carried all our luggage out the back entrance to where cabs awaited. Somewhat unusual, but it didn't detract from our experience as a whole.
Especially for the price paid, I thought the Hilton Phuket was an amazing experience!

"Amazing!"
We have just returned from 10 days at the Hilton where we held our wedding with 20 close family members. We were so amazed and impressed with the hotel, the service, location, grounds etc everything was perfect. The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. The resort and its grounds are so big and spacious that there was always so much to do if you wanted to, the Spa was amazing, there are so many different services they offer and the private rooms made it all the more special. It was the perfect location for our wedding with its beautiful gardens, lagoons and atmosphere. I honestly would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway, we were so sad to leave, but will be back to stay again very soon! (ps the Lotus rooms are worth the extra $$).

"Fabulous"
Ok, it is not an intimate, small luxury hotel masked to a Thai village: it is really, really big, but it is also perhaps the best hotel I ever have stayed in: the Lotus wing room was elegant and beautiful (and always very well cleaned), the hotel area is amaising with its lakes, pools, waterfalls, fountains and even peacocks. The open air lobbies were beatifully decorated.
The service was excellent, and everybody was always very friendly. The breakfast buffet covered breakfasts from American pancakes to Chinise Dim yum and Japanese miso soup and sushi. The café, bars and restaurants seemed to work perfectly, as well as the receptions etc.
I warmly recommed it. Karon beach was also more tranquil place to be than Patong beach, where even prostitution was clearly visible and disturbing. Kata and Kata Noi beaches were also tranquil.
In the very northern end of Karon Beach there are three little restaurants situated straight on the beach. Don't let the modest or even shabby appearance fool you: wonderful food almost for free and romantic see views just in front of them. (But were just sandals or no shoes at all; you must pass a couple of small streams in order to get there).

"A Great Resort in a Great Vacation Spot"
We arrived in Phuket late at night and had to take a shared taxi service to our hotel. Our hotel was one of the last stops since it was past Patong Beach in Karon Beach (which is a lot less crowded).
We pulled up to a gate, and our taxi had to pass inspection by the guard. Then we headed to the welcome area and our luggage was placed onto a tram. This was pretty exciting since we didn't really know what we were doing. We weave throughout the property and end up at the reception area. The bell boys were extremely helpful! When we checked in, we were offered a local fruit juice. The front desk clerk walked us to our room, pointing out highlights of the hotel. There are about seven restaurants, three pools, shops, bars with live entertainment, and daily activities. Our room was a good size and had a great view. We were welcomed into our room with a bowl of fresh fruit and an orchid laying on our pillow. The pillow was very comfortable.
This is a great place for families because you do not have to leave the resort to have fun. There are activities, both for children and adults, throughout the day. One aspect I liked is that they offered a lunch basket that could be taken to the beach. They also had a teddy bear lunch that sounded cute, but I'm not quite sure what all that entailed.
The hotel itself has lush gardens everywhere. The entire hotel is open air which gives it a great atmosphere. It is pretty expensive to eat at one of the hotel restaurants, but it is very convenient since the circle for Karon Beach is about a 15-minute walk. There is tuk-tuk service on the outskirts of the hotel by the beach that can take you anywhere.
My favorite part of the hotel is the water slide! Just beware that it is in the shallow part of the pool. I saw a few adults surprised by its shallowness.
