"Great place to stay"
Stayed here for 9 days with hubbie and two children. Had two adjoining rooms, one double and two single beds but only one A/C and as it was hot needed to keep both doors open which might have been ok except for my snorning husband who kept us all awake despite being banished to his own room alone only we didn't have the heart to lock him in as he might suffocate without the cool. Not the hotels fault, the snoring.
Otherwise no complaints, location great, daily cleaning and ample toilet paper! Double bed way comfortable, single beds a bit on the hard side. Didn't mind the short walk for the buffet breakfast , worth it for the view. Good value for money. Would stay there again anytime.
Travel tips: Beware of the taxi man who made off with not only twice the going rate but also an extra 100YTL. We learned the public transport system pretty quickly after that and found it very easy for getting around.
Also the cute cherry juice seller, all dressed up in his costume . No sooner has he the children at his side and urging u to take photo while proffering minute amount of juice in our cups when he lands u with the bill. My husband hates to look at the photo. It makes me laugh still. He reakons we should have run for it as he'd have been hard pressed to catch up carrying that thing on his back. He was still smarting after the taxi robber.

"A perfect base in istanbul"
For 40 euros a night I was expecting something not very salubrious, but Hotel Hippodrome was just perfect. It's right in the middle of Sultanahmet so a really close walk to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi and Aya Sophia, and the Galata Bridge and the Grand Bazaar were only 15/20 min walk. There is a street full of restaurants and bars just up the road.
The hotel rooms were very clean and well appointed, and relatively spacious. Fridge and AC. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was in the terrace restaurant of their sister hotel across the road. As well as lovely views, the omelette was a great start to the day or there was a wide buffet selection.
No complaints at all.

"Great Location and Service"
We have just returned from a week at the Hippodrome Hotel in Istanbul. The location was incredibly good within walking distance to all of the major sightseeings. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A big thank you to Derya who helped us with all the information and guidelines. We will definatly be going back to the Hippodrome Hotel.

"Excellent Family Apartment!"
We just returned from an 8 day stay at the Hippodrome Hotel in Istanbul.
We were travelling with our 10 month old baby and the 15 year old nanny. We needed a two bedroom apartment that had a kitchen and the Hippodrome Hotel Apartment was perfect for our needs. The apartment we stayed in had one large bedroom with a queen bed and a smaller bedroom with two twin beds. Both bedrooms had a private bathroom. The apartment also had a very large living room with its own bathroom (#3!). The full kitchen was small but suited us just fine.
The apartment was newly remodled and extremely clean. We had no problem letting the baby crawl around the apartment.
Twenty four hour reception was provided and made us all feel very safe and well looked after. This was important since my husband and I left the baby and nanny alone every night. We were happy everyone felt so safe and comfortable.
The breakfast was delicious (although my husband found it a little monotonous - maybe new dishes could be rotated?). It was served down the street at the other property owned by the same family. The terrace where it was served was gorgeous and had an amazing view.
It was challenging finding accomadation that suited our situation and I would highly recommend this hotel (apartment) for families or friends travelling together.

"Ideal location helpful staff"
We have just returned from a 4 day visit to Istanbul and were delighted with the hotel which, apart from being clean, is ideally situated in the heart of Istanbul .
The majority of the major sights of the city, the Blue Mosque, Sofia Museum, Topkapi Palace , Great Underground Sistern ,etc.
are all within walking distance.
We breakfasted on the roof terrace of the sister hotel each day and had a wonderful view of the Marmaris sea .
We have given the hotel a high rating not only because of the above factors but also because of the very helpful manager O mer and his staff and the excellent pickup from and delivery to Istanbul airport.

"Charming Hotel in Sultanahmet Area"
I was very glad I stayed in this boutique hotel in Istanbul because it's a place that makes you feel welcome. The owners are very helpful,(Mr.Omer) and the rooms comfortable and clean. And there are apart section in same street. The open buffet breakfast was also very good. From the terrace, you can see the Blue Mosque, Marmara Sea. There are binoculars up there so guests can spot the dolphins.
