"Excellent Accommodations"
My wife and I (on AARP rate) stayed two nights in May 2005 at the Lisbon Holiday Inn. We were given (at the same low rate) a beautiful, two-room suite that was the most spacious quarters we have ever had in Europe! The front desk was most helpful in answering questions. And the hotel is immaculate. It is located in a fairly nice neighborhood halfway between a major blvd. and several technical univeristy buildings. The parking garage is under the hotel and costs nearly 12 euros a night (one can unpack from the garage and take an elevator directly to your floor). There are a few temporary spaces in front of the hotel for unloading or getting directions (you will need them) to the parking garage. We did not use the hotel breakfast (11 euros per), so no comments on its quality. Both Metro stations are about 3-4 blocks way (a minor downside) but there is a supermarket (for wine and goodies) near the Saldanha station. The other is the Alameda station.

"a great hotel at a great location"
I have stayed in this hotel about 20 times now (over the last 8 years or so both for business and pleasure), and I always love it! In 2004 I stayed there 5 times! The rates when you book direct on the web are great (I usually pay between €60 and €70 excl. breakfast). Lisbon is a great city and when you stay in this hotel you'll notice immediately one of its great advantages. The taxi from the airport to the hotel takes less than 15 minutes and should cost no more than about €7 which means that in less than half an hour after you picked up your luggage from the conveyor belt, you could be relaxing by the pool. The rooms are spacious, the staff friendly and helpful and even when I leave my room real late, let's say 13.00 hrs, when I come back the room has been serviced. There is a swimming pool on the roof which is small but at least there is one. The hotel does have a breakfast buffet (around €10) but I usually take breakfast a few blocks away from the hotel where there is an cafe with terras where you can have some rolls or pastries, fresh orange jus and a beautiful expresso for less than €5. Directions: Turn right when coming out of the hotel, turn right again at the the corner of the street past the wee shop, cross the street and take the first on your left. It's at the end of that street on your right.). There is also a wee bar where locals have lunch, watch footbal and have a coffee or a draft beer. Directions: Coming out of the hotel turn left into the narrow street, the pasteleria is 20 meters down the street on your right. In these places expect to pay around €0.65 for a small draught beer and around €0.50 for a beautiful expresso. There are also some good typical portuguese restaurants within easy walking distance. Directions: cross the street from the the hotel and go right, turn left at the corner. Walk up to the second set of lights, there's 1 diagonal on your right (Duas Amazonas) and there a good few on the street walking straight on). All in all, if you want to stay somewhere where it is comfortable, relaxing and still for less than 5 Euro taxi drive (tarif 1) to the main sights and squares, this is the hotel for you!

"Nice Hotel"
Just stayed a night at the hotel. The view from the 10th floor were magnificent. Execellent helpfull english speaking staff. Good price. not to far from metro.

"Excellent Value for Money"
Excellent value for money hotel. Located outside the central toruist area of town but close and handy for the metro - word of warning make sure you get a map of the area around the hotel from reception we got Very Very lost on way back on the first night because of following the intersting Lisbon Bus Stop maps. We later found out we were very close to a stop on the "blue" line sightseeing bus tour!! All staff and facilities excellent top marks for "Carlos" at the bar who already had our Super Bocks on order for our usual 8.00pm pre departure drinks. Breakfast - excellent. A good choice and availability. Word of warning to families/young women on their own -the hotel did seem to find itself in a red light district with women every 100mtrs on surrounding roads late at night and opposite a "gentlemans club" -neither of interest or a problem to us but may offend/cause issues for others. All in all a hotel of the standard to be expected of Holiday Inn at a reasonable price (if booked in advance) Would highly recommend to others.
