"Holiday Inn"
Stayed here over the bank holiday week-end, after reading previous reviews did consider changing the hotel, i am glad we did not. The staff were very polite and helpful, the room quite spacious and not noisy. Breakfast was very good lots of choice. Pool on roof-top, gym facilities if you felt energetic. Overall not a bad place to stay about 3km from city which we did walk one day, stopping along the way at numerous bars. You know you will receive a reasonable standard at a holiday inn as they are pretty much all the same. I am fussy and could not fault the hotel, would stay here again.

"Decent hotel; decent location"
Stayed at Holiday Inn Madrid for 3 nights during first week of March. Standard Holiday Inn room, but there were two double beds in the room as opposed to the two twin beds you often find in Europe; this arrangement made it much easier to accomodate two children and two adults. Room was very clean and there was a nice basket of fresh fruit and bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. Bathroom was a good size with a tub/shower combo. The staff was very friendly and helpful and everyone spoke excellent English. The location is probably best suited for business travelers, as it is a few miles outside of the main tourist district. The hotel is located very close to a subway stop, however, so access to Plaza del Sol, Prado Museum, etc. was quite easy. Hotel was located in an area close to many restaurants, stores and a mall. There is also a restaurant in the hotel at which we had a fairly good dinner.

"Good hotel"
The Holiday Inn in Madrid is a decent hotel. It is nicely situated in the business area of town and very handy for the local Metro which connects you to the rest of the city. I would recommend that you take the Metro from Madrid Airport to the hotel which involves a short walk from the Metro station to the hotel (about 10 minute walk). The hotel is quite modern, nice reception area and good facilities - including wireless (if temperamental) Internet facilities throughout. It also has a very well equipped gym. The rooms are nice - mine's was a double which had two large beds in it. There are lots of cafes and some shops in the immediate vacinity - and interestingly some saunas and [--] shops and it looked like some of the girls were looking for business. The area isn't seedy -- just an odd mix of businesses, houses and shops. I don't really understand the negative comments about this place. The hotel is fine. Over-priced for what you get but unless you think you're royalty then you will like this place.

"Judge for yourself"
I am so glad that I didn't take some of your reviews to heart. This is a brilliant hotel. Yes it's outside the old town, but only 10mins on the superb Metro system takes you there. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well run. We were upgraded to a 2 room suite because we had a teenager with us. The rooftop pool was brilliant, just the job after a long hot sticky days sightseeing. The buffet breakfast is one of the best I have experienced anywhere with a choice to suit everyone. Finally the best thing about the hotel is its staff. All the staff from the manager to an electrician working on the lift could not have been more polite or helpful. Special praise must go to the Manager Sr. Caballero who i think may have saved my life. It was my aniversarry when i stayed at the hotlel and i left the card i had bought at home. I explained my predicament and asked if there was a florist close by. Sr.Caballero told me to go off and enjoy my day in Madrid. When myself and my wife returened the hotel had organised a large bunch of flowers from the florist and accompanied it with a complimentary bottle of Champagne. What serice! My family and I will visit Madrid again next Feb to see a football game. There is only one place I will be staying!!!!!
