A very good hotel for a family trip! Hostal Persal We are a family with 2 children (12 & 15). We were in Madrid for three days. This hotel is just excellent : well situated, comfortable and big rooms, very nice bathroom. Concerning the breakfast is fantastic ! The personal is very nice and the day you are leaving, the hotel accept to keep your baggages. And the most important the hotel is very quiet and very well situated.

"Good value for money" Don't be put off by the Hostal name and the price - this is as good as many two star hotels I've stayed in. The rooms were comfortable but not lavish, with a private bathroom (bath, good shower) including toiletaries. The beds were comfortable. There's a safe in the room which uses €1 coins. The continental breakfast which is included is an added bonus. Buffet style with bread, cereals, croissants etc. The location is the best bit - slap bang in the centre of town, and within wobbling distance of the Plaza Santa Ana for tapas and beer. NB At the time of writing (Oct '06) there is building work in the street outside, but we were not disturbed. It would make access to the hotel difficult for the disabled, as the pavement has been pulled up.

"Hostal Persal - Location, Location, Location" I stayed at the Hostal Persal in Madrid the weekend before Thanksgiving. While the room was somewhat "spartan", it was actually fairly roomy (i.e. room for our suitcases) by European standards. The room was clean and the beds were firm. The breakfast was not much . . .coffee and cereal and juice . .no meats. The best thing about this hotel was the location, in the Plaza Angel, within walking distance of the Puerta Del Sol and the Prado and other museums.

"Great for a break!!!!!" 3 of us stayed 5 days in the Hostal Persil over the 2007 new year celebration. The rooms whilst basic were comfortable and very clean. All the staff were very freindly including the cleaning staff. The continental breakfast was good and available up to 11:00 am ish. Location was superb only 5 mins walk from Sol but very quite even on new years eve! All in all a very good hostal in a prime location. Well worth considering if your on a budget!!!!

"Excelent location, staff and price/quality" I will definetely stay in Hostal Persal in my next visit to Madrid. It is a simple but fantastic hotel, where everything interesting in Madrid is nearby; in the same block: Cafe Central (superb live jazz), España Cañí bar (beers and long drinks); you can have typical "churros" (churrería in front of Calderon Theatre), tapas in Plaza Santa Ana is a must (just a block from Persal)... Staff is excellent. Good breakfast.

"Exellenent little pesion" The little Hostel can not be beat for its cleanliness, the helpfull staff and the location. We were on a limited budget and could not have done any better. There was a comment that said the elevator only goes to the third floor, from what we could tell the fouth floor was not rented. Unless you budget is much larger the hotel is fine for young and old alike. Heidi Black
