"A hidden gem"
There are nicer hotels in Zermatt, but you will have a hard time finding one this nice in the center of town for the price we paid. The hotel is located on the southern edge of town, which puts it near the lifts. Located next to the hotel is a ski shop which offers discounts to Hotel Allalin guests. Walk about 2 blocks and you are on the "main drag" of Zermatt with all its bars, restaurants and shops. Sleep with the windows open and you'll hear the light roar of the river that runs through town. Breakfast was great. The staff were always eager to provide suggestions. I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say about this place.

"Allalin is a Great find"
What is so striking about Allalin is the people who work there really go out of their way for you (especially Sandra). We received lovely champagne because we were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and then wine on departure. The rooms are a great siye and ours was overlooking the Matterhorn. There are also balconies, great for having a glass of wine at the end of the day. Downstairs is also a good lounge area where you can socialise with friends. Zermatt is a fabulous place and Allalin is a great hotel in a wonderful location. Nothing negative to report.

"Great Hotel In A Wonderful Swiss Town "
We stayed at the Allalin for 2 nights & it is such an adorable hotel. We had no problems finding it & actually walked from the main train station, dragging our bags down the cobblestone streets. The staff is friendly & helpful, the rooms are very comfortable & clean. We requested a higher floor on the mountain side, and were given both - thus we had a delightful view of the Matterhorn. (Room was 24 on the 2nd floor). They gave us welcome chocolates & when departing, a small bottle of the local white wine. My husband said it tasted good- I couldn't drink it. They have a nice breakfast that runs until 10:30 am with many pastry, cheese, meat, juice, cereal options. They also have water/fruit in the hallways that you can help yourself to any time of the day. The beds were really comfortable. They have a couch with a small table, a desk & chair and two chairs on the patio outside. They offer a turn down service & actually even laid out my pajamas because I had just tossed them on the bed out of my suitcase. The bathroom was a great size with shower/tub & two sinks. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel - the little hairdryer. It's a small style where you have to hold the button for the air to blow. Thankfully I have shorter hair or it could have taken hours to dry it. The location is ideal. Off the main road, yet walking distance to anywhere you might want to check out. We often roamed the streets at night just to walk off our dinners. I would definitely stay here again! They do have 1 computer in the lobby for guests to use at no charge. People seemed courteous about it and didn't take long if someone was waiting.
