"A 4* Hotel with 5* Service"
Having booked Hotel Ametyst for an Easter break I was surprised and a little dubious about some of the comments and rating this hotel had received on your site. I am pleased to say that indeed we found many of the criticisms to be totally unfounded; the hotel was first class. I had a spacious single room, with a most comfortable bed where I slept well at night after all the day time walking, eating and drinking. The staff were courteous and friendly enough. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of 3 dining areas, we did not need to share a table. An excellent buffet was provided with a choice of fruit juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cooked items, cold plate, toast and even cake(!). Coffee and tea was available, and if you really cannot start the day without your espresso or cappuccino fix this can be purchased. We ate our evening meal in a wonderful little Czech restaurant just round the corner, using lunch to explore more central eating places. Maticka Praha (little mother Prague) is a lovely vibrant city and clearly Czech people are enjoying life in 2006. The "tourist trap" areas are uncomfortable because of the numbers, so expect this. We liked the hotel because it was a little distant, and we quickly got used to the walk to Wenceslas Square. Great value for money where the tourist is welcomed and well catered for (eg WCs are plentiful, free and clean). I came home very much more relaxed than when I flew out.

"Lovely two day stay"
Excellent Hotel. Very clean, pleasant decor, lovely bathroom and excellent service by staff. Quiet location with short walk to underground metro station which is one stop from the main square in city centre. Nice breakfast. Will stay here again.

"Great two nights stay"
My wife and I stayed at the Ametyst Feb 28th to 2nd March 2007 The room was very comfortable and quiet even though floors below were being renovated between the hours of 8am to 16.30 hrs. The staff were friendly and helpful the hotel is a little far from the centre but thats the sacrifice for a good nights sleep, there was one drawback the room had no bath and after the walking we did it would have been nice to have had a nice soak at the end of the day. We found a lovely restaurant called Stoleti on Karoliny Svetle near the Charles bridge it was good value for good food. On the whole it was a great break.

"Great Weekend Break"
I travelled to Prague with my husband, mother and 2 children. The Ametyst Hotel was a great base for our weekend. We were close enough to the centre but far enough away to have undisturbed nights. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpfull, booking trips for us and arranging taxis etc. The children (aged 10 and 12) weren't sure if they would enjoy this trip but we all had a brilliant time.

HOTEL AMETYST PRAGUE
STAYED AT HOTEL AMETYST IN PRAGUE FOR 4 NIGHTS IN FEB 2007. HAD A VERY ENJOYABLE STAY. HOTEL VERY CLEAN, BREAKFAST EXCELLANT. SITUATED ON A QUIET STREET ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES WALK TO OLD TOWN. TRAMS ARE A FEW MINUTES WALK AWAY IF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE WALKING. WE ENJOYED THE WALK. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR A RELAXING BREAK AND VERY REASONABLY PRICED

"Thank you Priceline!"
We just returned from a very pleasant stay in Prague at the Hotel Ametyst which is located in a great residential part of Prague, Vinhorady. We felt like we "lived" in Prague by staying here rather than being tourists. The hotel is a few blocks from both the metro and tram lines which make it very accessible to Old town, Jewish Quarter and the Castle. We often just walked to these other neighborhoods. The hotel is in very good condition, clean with modern facilities. The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff quite helpful. I was able to get the room for $125 a night which might have been a bit too high a bid but we were pleased with the outcome.

"Comfortable stay"
This hotel is set in a quiet residential area in Prague. Although a good 12mins walk from nearest metro, there is a tram stop within 5 mins walk. The room is clean and well equipped. There is a good selection for breakfast. The staff are helpful especially with directions. You do have to pay extra for sauna/steamroom.

"Serves its market well"
Two 68 year old ladies found this hotel a good base from which to explore the city. It is 7 minutes to the Metro and tram but then quickly into the centre. The area is quiet, residential and safe to walk round at night. Round the corner we found the Hlucna samota, an excellent bar/restaurant, with good food and friendly staff and customers. Cheap too (on average we paid for the 2 of us the equivalent of £15 for 2 courses and a beer) The hotel twin room was big enough for 2, clean, warm yet with a window that opened! There was a bath as well as a shower. BBC News on the TV. Large selection at breakfast. We didn't eat in, but were told the dinners were good and reasonable prices. The staff all spoke enough English to be helpful with taxis etc.
